Tell us about your professors.

Professors are fun, witty, and engaging. You get all kinds -- the tough graders, the jokers, the superbly intelligent ones whose thought process transcends anything you could grasp in the span of a 50-minute lecture, and so on. My favorite professor by far is Chris Phillips in the English department, whose Literature of the Sea class crystallized for me why I chose to be an English major. He brought art and history and music and marine biology to Moby Dick, sang sea shanties to us to recreate the feel of being shipboard off the coast of Ireland in the 1800s, and took us to Mystic, CT so that we could better understand the seafaring way. My Lafayette experience is enriched by interactions with professors such as him.

The Professors at Lafayette are not afraid to challenge their students in the classroom. Work is demanding, but they are always more than willing to help students out.
