The professors here really, genuinely care about what kind of students they're putting out. If you get an A in the chemistry or biology department classes, you'll know you earned it.

Melody

The professors are very knowledgable about their fields! Classes are always filled with learning, and I've never felt unfullfilled in a class. They are moderately sized as well, which helps with participation.

Josh

The classes here have a class size of twenty to thirty students. This allows teachers to develope some sort of relationship with the individual student. When I struggle with a subject or problem moterey provides easy acces to assitence. I like it when classes are challenging and create problems for the students to solve. It is nice to be able to contact the appropriate teacher if a problem arrises.

Most community colleges are just a stepping stone to entering a four year university. However, MPC offers two of the most sought after certification programs in the state of California. The Maurine Church Coburn School of Nursing offered in partnership with Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula allows students to earn an RN liscencure and has recently been awarded "the best program for male students". Of those accepted into the fall 2008 class, 47 percent are men. The second program originated from the oldest fire academy in the state of California at Asilomar. Now a six month course at MPC.

The best part about Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) is the fact that there are so many areas of study to dive into. Not only are there great learning opportunities, there are amazing professors that are willing to help students really understand the material, not just receive a grade. In high school, going to class was something I knew I had to do. Fortunately at MPC, going to class is something I actually want to do.

I think that the best thing about Monterey Peninsula College is that their is so much variety in just one class. There are teenagers, mothers, fathers, grandparents and even kids who are still in high school. I believe that community colleges are special because the students who are going there are not in school just to party and have a good time. We are there to get our work done so that we can better our lives, academic wise.

The teachers at Monterey Peninsula College are phenomenal, especially for community college instructors. Several have a Ph.D. in their field, they come from different places and have different experiences to offer, and I have always felt that my teachers are genuinely interested in my academic and personal success. The small class sizes are a major contributing factor to the effectiveness of MPC's instructors. I've also noticed that the faculty at MPC communicate and collaborate in order to provide a complete, balanced learning environment. I am supremely grateful to have been taught by such qualified individuals.
