Providence College is best known for it's dedication to service as embodied by the work of the Dominican Friars. Although Providence College is religiously affiliated, it's commitment to service is equally as emphasized. The opportunities for students to travel throughout Greater Providence and immerse themselves in the communities while sharing their time and abilities are endless. I have been fortunate enough to be able to take part in many of these opportunities and I have realized that helping out communities in need is such an imperative part my education at Providence.


We are well known for our basketball team, and for being Domincan Catholic in nature. Our Development of Western Civilization (Civ) program is also well-known, though the credits don't often transfer completely to other schools for Civ.


My school is best known for being Catholic. We have a strong Dominican foundation here, and it is reflected in the required undergraduate coursework as well as the number of on-campus religious locations and many of the volunteer organizations and clubs (such as PC for Life, a pro-life group on campus).
