Don't care about anything but money and getting yours. overpriced. Don't care about the individual only their enrollment and how they look to others.
I think Transy is very well equipped, not only as a school , but in how it deals with the corona virus. The classes are interesting and in depth in their subjects. The area surrounding the college is a little sketchy, but it's not common for any weird characters to be seen on campus. We have police that are easy to contact at any time, whether to simply escort us across campus at night, or too investigate something unusual. The foods very good, and we have a mask policy on campus grounds. As well as regular corona virus testing done by the school to make sure whoever comes on campus isn't sick. I feel safe and that I'm still getting an education, despite the difficult times.
The students and professors are the best part of the university. The student body has the capacity to be very creative and giving. The professors, my experience being in the art departments primarily, are passionate and considerate educators who want to see their students succeed. The physical landscape of the university itself needs improvement, and the administration in my experience was difficult to communicate with. I graduated as major renovations were taking place, so hopefully there have been improvements already. While I was enrolled, accessibility for those who may have a temporary or permanent physical disability was minuscule, and not well kept. For example, the automatic door buttons on several of the older buildings would just not be functional for long periods of time. This made navigating the campus safely and efficiently not easy. In regards to the administration, they have gone through several major position turnovers, which at times could make the forward motion of the school inconsistent and slow. This also created a level of distrust and frustration among some parts of the student body.
Transylvania University is a unique institution, offering rigorous academic courses, deeply caring faculty members, and small class sizes. The new dormitories have enhanced the close-knit campus community and raised student morale. The Greek community is growing more inclusive and welcoming each year. From intramurals and our sports teams, to student-run plays, to Pumpkinmania, to guest lectures, there are countless ways to get involved in the campus community. Set in the heart of Lexington, local shops and eateries are abundant and close by. Transylvania will always be close to my heart!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Transylvania University is 94%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
A lot of prospective students believe they know exactly what kind of a career they want to pursue, so they choose a college that focuses on those things they are only currently interested in. My advice to these students is to go for a college that offers courses in a wide variety of subjects, and then encourage them to experiment with what is offered. You never know when you might find something completely new that you will fall in love with. The purpose of college is to give you the resources and opportunities you need to effectively choose a direction in life, so be sure and examine all your options before you commit yourself to one thing. I would also invite students to become involved in an extracurricular activity of some sort, so they can socialize with people with similar interests and apply their talents into action. In short, have an open mind, make friends and have a little fun, but don't forget why you are there. Stay on top of your schoolwork no matter what, because in college grades are everything.
Worst thing about Transylvania is the curfew. I feel like it's a little outdated and it implies that the students are making mature adult decisions.
My classmates are nice, helpful, caring, and supportive.
The type of person that should attend this school should be open to new ideas, be able to participate in class discussions, not afraid to ask for help, be comfortable with professors, and eager to learn.
The size. You know that you attend a small school but there are plenty of people in the working world that are willing to help you find a job or any other opportunity that you may be looking for. Networking through Transy is made easy.
A person who does not put academics first. No matter if you are an athlete, or a member of any other club/organization, at Transylvania Univeristy academics come first.
I talk about how much I loved the tight community of the school. You truley could start a club for anything if there was not already one. You really get to be your own person.
The sense of community that you feel while here. There's never a time when i'm walking from class to class that i don't see at least one person that i know.
Haveing to decide what your going to major in quickly. If your not sure or have some idea what you want to do coming in then its possible you won't graduate on time. Also its hard to get two majors that are in the same field (Chemistry/Bio, Math/CS) because of all the general requirments that are needed for each major.
My school is cultured, diverse, and very prestigious.
It is the oldest college in Kentucky and the 16th oldest in the country.
I feel challenged but my grades do not reflect it. I would get 100% on my mc question but some teachers are very subjective graders the answer may be right, but if its not what they want to hear its wrong. Some teachers and amazing and other are not so good. All depends on who you take.
Not much to do greek life is ok. There are magic and improve shows if your into the type of thing :/
Mold in forrer hall, and the university ignores it. Caused major heath problems for me causing me threat to swell i can hardly breath.I wake up every day with burring red eyes. The parties are non-exsistant, it is a suitcase college (although they tell you it is not) everyone leaves on the weekends. The atmosphere on transy is very depressing, and almost every freshman has considered transferring at one point. The food is terrible. Social life is pathetic. I know too many people transferring. Has the potential to be an amazing school, but need lots of help. Wanted to go to a small school for the one-on-one time, it is hide and go seek trying to talk to my professors. The academics are alright but not worth wasting you college experience. I would highly recommend not attending this college. The admissions office ensured me there would be new bathrooms for the 2018 class, a huge crowd for basketball games, and it was NOT a suitcase college. I found out for my self that these things were all not true. Transy was not anything I had seen in my several college tours. Be 100% sure this is your college. It seems like the people who deicide not to transfer to a new school are stuck, and are just making it through college. You should enjoy your college experience! I don't want y'all to the the mistake I did. Hope this helped. Good luck on your college search! xoxo
How much Greek life plays a part in campus life.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
100% of students attending Transylvania University receive some sort of financial aid. 28% were awarded federal grants. While 62% received federal loans. Many students do also need to apply for additional private student loans.
