The students and professors are the best part of the university. The student body has the capacity to be very creative and giving. The professors, my experience being in the art departments primarily, are passionate and considerate educators who want to see their students succeed. The physical landscape of the university itself needs improvement, and the administration in my experience was difficult to communicate with. I graduated as major renovations were taking place, so hopefully there have been improvements already. While I was enrolled, accessibility for those who may have a temporary or permanent physical disability was minuscule, and not well kept. For example, the automatic door buttons on several of the older buildings would just not be functional for long periods of time. This made navigating the campus safely and efficiently not easy. In regards to the administration, they have gone through several major position turnovers, which at times could make the forward motion of the school inconsistent and slow. This also created a level of distrust and frustration among some parts of the student body.
Transylvania University is a unique institution, offering rigorous academic courses, deeply caring faculty members, and small class sizes. The new dormitories have enhanced the close-knit campus community and raised student morale. The Greek community is growing more inclusive and welcoming each year. From intramurals and our sports teams, to student-run plays, to Pumpkinmania, to guest lectures, there are countless ways to get involved in the campus community. Set in the heart of Lexington, local shops and eateries are abundant and close by. Transylvania will always be close to my heart!
Transy provides great opportunities for all students in many different fields! I could not complain about anything on the academic side of campus! Professors are greatly involved and want the students to understand, as long as you put in the effort. On the other hand, campus life isn't too great. Housing is really weird, and the off-campus housing is a problem due to the requirements. Food isn't too great either. But, if you're coming to school to learn, you're coming to the right place!! Some people come to party, but I wouldn't really know about that...
Transylvanian University is a small liberal arts school in a big city. This means all of the academic advantages like small class sizes and always available professors, with all of the outside advantages of a city like a variety of restaurants, fun and interesting places to visit, job/internship opportunities, and more.
This campus has a late focus on academics through both writing and speaking effectively. There is also a large focus on athletics where there are new facilities and the majority of students playing at least one sport. Greek life is also a part of most students lives
Transylvania University is home, to put it simply. From the moment you step foot on campus, everyone has your back. You never feel like you're in a room of strangers, everyone is so nice, welcoming, and treats you like a friend. The professors are great. They let you know from the get-go that it will not be easy. However, they are very accessible with their office hours and appointments. In fact, they love it when students utilize their office hours and make an honest attempt in their courses. There are many academic resources to help students thrive here, including the writing center and free tutoring sessions every night. Everyone at this school is rooting for you and everyone is willing to help someone in need.
The very small size of Transylvania put me off at first, but now I realize it's a blessing and a curse at the same time. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything: whatever you do, someone is going to know. However, the small size means you get to know everyone, especially your professors, and make a close-knit group of friends that you can rely on. The academics are phenomenal, with professors that love what they teach and who are always available for help. I love Transylvania, overall!
I truly enjoy Transylvania University. Everyone knows everyone, and the professors are very intelligent and kind. They are always wanting to get to know the students better, as well as help you in any way that they can. We are a community and there are numerous opportunities to get involved in the school in one way or another. There is something for everyone, and it's very accommodating in that way. The buildings, while most are old, hold a lot of character and history behind them. There are no two alike, and that's cool to me.
It's a great school with an even better reputation. The professors push students and are invested in their students' success. The small class sizes are what sets us apart from other universities and we take pride in our community on and off campus. Transylvania University can be everything you make it if you seek out opportunities however professors do take enjoy helping, advising, and teaching students to become better citizens in and outside the classroom.
I think, and have always thought, that Transylvania University is an amazing school! The teachers are so amazing and I really love the different options that they have for classes. Transylvania really takes pride in its faculty, students, and community. It truly is an awesome place and no student gets left behind.
