The classes you take all depends on the major you are and if they are lower or upper division courses. Many of the Lower Division course are very big (200 +), but that doesn't mean you will never get attention from the professor. At our campus, every professor is required to have office hours where students can go ask questions about the lecture or just go have a good conversation with them. also many large classes have Teacher Assistants. the Upper Division courses are much smaller (30 and lower) and allows the professor to give attention to every student.
My classes vary by size. Usually the lower-division classes are large especially for physics, chemistry, and some general education classes because a lot of people need those classes. However, once you get more into upper division classes for your major, classes get small. In addition, most classes have discussion sessions aside from the lectures and these classes are small, so you can definitely get your questions answered here. Writing classes are small because some professors like to discuss. If you want to be a math or science teacher, they have classes you can take and those classes are small as well, less than 30 people.
