When we beat Oklahoma

This year was 11.11.11. It was significant to many people, significant enough apparently to be celebrated. I remember walking back from a lab and stopping at the student center. At the top was a large group of people. At exactly 11:11, they dropped 11,000 ping pong balls of the roof. According to the announcers, 1,111 of the balls had prizes on them. I found three balls on the sidewalk, picked them up and noticed on one, there was a $10 gift card. I was pretty happy. Not only did I see 11,000 ping pong balls dropped at the same time off a roof, (at my college) I also made $10.

On facebook, I received an invitation to a "flash rave" that was going to take place at speaker's circle. At first, I thought this was a joke, because I didn't think anyone would go and it was a silly idea. The invitation had a video of Kansas State's flash rave that they had done a week earlier, and about 1000 people had attended it. Apparently, the host of the event wanted to beat Kansas in the size of the flash rave! So, after a lot of debating, I thought "What is there to lose? I might as well give this a shot!". So at 8 p.m. I drove to campus with a friend, parked, got out of the car, and it was kind of eerie. There were hordes of people walking towards speakers circle! As we got closer we started seeing the crowed that had gathered. There had to be more than 1000 people standing around waiting for something to happen. I got SUPER excited!! Then, out of the crowd rose a man in a banana costume, with a microphone. He started chanting "M-I-Z!!" and the crowed roared back "Z-O-U!!" and suddenly the giant speakers began to buzz, like they had just been turned on. The banana screamed louder "M-I-Z!!!!" and we screamed back "Z-O-U!!!!" and magic happened. The music blared out of the giant speakers and EVERYONE started dancing!! The adrenaline was PUMPING through me! It was the craziest thing I have ever done! There were glow sticks, and giant beach balls flying through the air. It was unbelievable! The best part about the night was the cops. They showed up, got out of their cars and just stood there smiling! They couldn't believe what they saw! No one got in trouble and they just made sure everyone was safe. If you get a chance, look up some videos on youtube. It was a night on campus I'll never forget!

I will NEVER forget our homecoming football game my junior year! We were playing Oklahoma--they were ranked #2, so nobody thought we could win. Well, we did--and the whole student section rushed the field. I got the chance to kiss the 50-yard line (Mizzou tradition), and we tore down the goal posts and walked them down to Harpo's (a local bar). It was the best night of my college career!
