Where is the best place to get work done on campus?

Chelsea

I have two favorite places to get work done on campus. First, if I really need to be quiet and concentrate, I go to Ellis library. There are lots of comfy seats and quiet spaces that allow me to focus. Second, if I want to take in some scenery, I go to the quad. Francis Quadrangle is beautiful and open. I love to sit by the columns and relax.

The library. Specifically the "quiet rooms" on the second floor if you really want to get work done. However, for a more laid-back atmosphere, the student center or student union have good study spots.

Mizzou puts a lot of money into providing space and computers for students to study and get work done. My study/work routine was at the new journalism library in the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Awesome computers, comfy chairs, hip magazines, great selection of books about all types of journalistic topics. The entire place has style so you don't feel like you're studying in the 1970's. Ellis Library has many different places to study from wide open computing areas to tiny cubicles that look like jail cells in some forgotten basement corner. My favorite place in Ellis was in the Bookmark Cafe because I could get coffee and food, watch people when I needed a break, and because I often saw friends I could talk to briefly while sitting there. When it's warm, Mizzou has lots of benches and grassy lawns where people study all the time. I rarely did that because I would've been tempted to run around and play instead of getting my work done. But to each his own. Mizzou definitely takes care of you in this area.

Just plain quiet: Ellis Library. In some rooms it is so quiet that you will feel guilty disturbing the peace by unzipping your backpack. Kinda Quiet: Student Union or Student Center. Both buildings have obscene amounts of overstuffed couches and chairs to curl up in, and restaurants and cafes close by. Cozy Quite: Cafés downtown. My personal favorite. They are so close to campus and so full of students that you wont ever notice you've stepped off university grounds. There are so many, and decently priced, and not as dreary as the gray silence of the library.
