Using Federal Loans and Grants for Study Abroad

Students may have to do some research to get the answer to this question. They should start with their own college’s office for studying abroad but should know that federal grants and loans may cover part of their expenses. In fact, NASFA has an online worksheet to help students outline costs of studying abroad. They explain that work-study programs which may apply to students while studying in the United States will not be considered, whereas Pell Grants and institutional aid can be available.
