I think Austin college is a great school. The academic challenge is perfect and it keeps me striving to be better every single day. The availability of the professors is the greatest advantage Austin college has over larger universities. They are always eager to help myself and my peers in any way that they can. I would recommend this school for anybody who is thinking about going to college.
As a student who has had a vision of attending Austin College since the 7th grade, and was recently granted admission, I can say without a doubt that Austin College truly has traditions, an environment and a culture that is unlike any other. Not only do the staff students and members of the community make you feel welcome, but it is a vastly diverse campus which allows anyone no matter the background of the individual.
I love the community and the inviting atmosphere of Austin College. Everyone truly cares about you. I feels like a big family who is looking out for you and helping you succeed. Although some of the dorms are old, you still get to make it feel like home and make plenty of friends in and outside of the classroom.
Overall being a freshman and all I find Austin College to be a wonderful college. It is small, with a nice community of students and small classrooms of professors that are very accessible, and the campus is gorgeous in it's own way. Being a liberal arts college there are a variety of humanities classes and the Jan terms are nice if you want to travel abroad or learn something new that doesn't eat up credits or main semester time.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Austin College is 53%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Visit every college you apply to and make sure it fits your student's personality.
There's just a great familial atmosphere.
It is very demanding towards the end of the semester and it is almost imposible to work a part time job (20-30hrs) and keep up your grades.
You can expect high expectations, teachers knows your name even if you never had a class with him or her, and knowing literally everyone in your department, and be facebook friends with half of the whole student body, including your professors.
The best thing I have experienced so far is te Greek life at Austin College. All the soroities and fraternities are local chapter and not what you would expect. I came into college thinking that all the fraternities were going to be drunk idiots, on the contrary they were some of the smartest and most welcoming people at AC. Pledging a fraternity has opened me up to new experiences and nwe oppoourtunities I would have never had otherwise. 70 percent of the donors to AC were Greek, that statement alone speaks volumes.
The food at Austin College can be really bad. It isn't the worst I ever had, but it certainly wouldn't be given five stars for taste, smell, and appearance.
I wish I had of realized, first-hand, how truly difficult but transforming college is.
When someone asks me about Austin College, I take pride in telling them that I am a part of one of the most elite schools in the U.S. I simply tell them that Austin College is a school that changes lives... a school that requires the most dedicated level of academics. Above all, however, I tell anyone who asks that I can go anywhere through Austin College. Many colleges boast their ability to make your dreams come with a degree. but I am only a freshman, and I could be in Kenya practicing medicine as we speak.
Teammates, intellectuals, and caring people.
Hard working, yet not arrogant person. If you are arrogant, you'll be shut down. If you are hard worker, you'll love this school. Get ready to recognize almost everyone in your graduating class. If you have willingness to open up to new experience, come; the school will show you a whole new world that you have never imagined.
A person who is not serious or focused should avoid this school, as well as those who just want to attend college for parties.
Austin College is best known for its rigorous academics. The size of the school enables the student to teacher ratio to be small allowing you to have more one on one time with your professors and classmates. Here you aren't just another number to the student body. The relationships formed with professors help to guide you throughout the four years here, as well as after graduating. Faculty and Staff genuinely wish to see students succeded with their careers and life goals. This also contribute to AC's friendly atmosphere that is evident as soon as you arrive on campus.
