APU students are honestly some of the nicest people I have ever met. It's like this unspoken rule of kindness on campus, I have never met anyone rude, people are curteous and helpful and everyone smiles. I don't think people realize how a big a smile can change things and at APU we all smile, which suprisingly always makes my day better.

I would say that my classmates are energetic, passionate, and purpose driven people. They are focused on getting the best education possible. They each help one another and strive for excellency in grades and in performance.

I am doing my grad studies online, but there are required discussion over the internet with students as part of our grade, so I do interact (cyberly) with my classmates. From my experience online, I think that most of my classmates are encouraging, friendly, and ambitious. It seems like a lot more work taking online courses, so encouragement is needed, and this school is great at promoting kindness toward others.

There is all sorts of students at APU. It is very diverse. The majority of the students are Christian and care about their faith. More and more people are becoming more real and open and building a community. You can tell everyone is broken and going through rough times.

A majority of students are middle class Caucasian Christians. This does not mean the entire school fits this description, but this group does make up the majority. During my time at APU, I did see an increase in diversity of race, class, religion, home country, and sexual orientation. While I cannot speak to the experience of every student, many minority students (in all of the previously mentioned categories) have expressed feeling out of place on campus.

We tend to have a certain style at APU: hippy and preppy, but honestly some many different people fit in easily because people are so outgoing. The only student I could imagine feeling slightly out of place would be an atheist since APU is such a Christian based University. Although students seem to be quite diverse, including international students, I fell that many students are from California. Overall, students are very respectable of different races and different beliefs. Although APU is a Christian University, this doesn't mean that everyone agrees with everything, but students are very respectful with other's opinions.

The students at APU cover a wide array and have a lot of diversity, which is a reason I like it. I do not feel like any certain "type" of person would feel more out of place here than anywhere else, and might actually feel a little more accepted. The hipster and indie scene are starting to permeate throughout the campus, but there are so many other types of people as well. I have looked around and seen hipster, punk, jock, Asian, Mexican, Caucasian, Black, Native American, etc. Among the many different styles and ethnicities, there are a wide array of states and countries represented. I myself am from Indiana, and I have many friends from other Midwestern states, such as Minnesota, Ohio, Iowa, Kansas, and Wisconsin. Furthermore, I know people from Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, New York, and naturally, California. A guy from Kenya is my neighbor, one of my good friends is from the Philippines and another from Singapore, and the list goes on. As opposed to going to a bigger state school, being at a private university in such a desired area such as Southern California has really opened the doors to meeting a variety of people.

The students at my school are so nice. The thing that really surprised me is that no one ever seems to be in a hurry except me. Seriously, when I'm at the parking lot, no one has road rage and they all have traffic courtesy. The first time I was at APU, I was trying to get to the bookstore. I was lost so I asked a person to give me directions. Not only did she give directions, she actually WALKED me to the bookstore just to make sure I wouldn't get lost.

My classmates are excited to learn, open to change, ready to be stretched in ways they never thought possible, and joyful in finding out more about themselves and how they want to live out their lives.

My school is very welcoming of all students. We are a Christian university but we welcome everyone. I know for a fact that we are committed to diversity on campus. The only group that may feel some prejudice on campus would be LGBT. This would be pretty much out of ignorance and confusion... not hatred. However I know that the students on campus are growing and learning. There are also groups for LGBT to help them feel comfortable and find people who may identify with their feelings. The dining hall is a collage of the student body. You will see faculty eating with a group of students, a table full of athletes trying to recover after a long practice, a table filled with the students from a dorm doing an event, and finally a young musician playing the piano to set the mood for the dining hall. Students really come from a range of backgrounds. They come from around the world and from such a variety of financial backgrounds. The great part about it is that they are welcomed with open arms. Azusa really tries to assist people depending on their needs. Students vary on politics. During the elections in 2008, the campus was very active in regards to the elections.

Most of the students there are very religious and God oriented. There are students from all over the world coming to APU so we are a very diverse school.

Though the majority are Christians, there are, of course, the jockeys, the geeks, the nerds, the musicians, and so on. The students here are predominantly from white families, but there are a lot of international students here as well. Also, the majority of the students are politically right, as they come from conservative Christian families. I am not sure different types of students interact, but I have to say that the musicians are their own entities. It is as if they are a separate school. I don't see many music majors interacting with non-music majors/minors. I see a lot of tank-top wearing done by the male population at APU, with a beanie, which I find quite paradoxical and the girls wear a lot of boots with scarves and floral dresses riding their '40s bicycles. I am not sure if the students here are necessarily goal-oriented; I feel that most of them are more into being closer to Jesus.

The students at our school are somewhat conservative, however we are the most liberal out of the majority of Christian schools. Our diversity is somewhat strong, however we are continuing to work on it regularly. We have several ethnic programs that reach out to all of the minorities on campus and make them feel at home. Our students are the definition of Southern Californians, for the most part. They wear shorts, tank tops, ride on long boards, but are very friendly. We have an array of financial backgrounds, from students on full scholarships to students who have no financial help. The great thing about APU is that our campus really is so diverse we have such a variety in all aspects of our campus.

My classmates are some of the most encouraging, friendly, motivating, and are amazing people to study with; there is a lot you can learn from them.

My classmates are generally conservative and opinionated.

My classmates are not very diverse in terms of ethnicity (most are white), nor in their basic religious convictions. They are, however, very diverse in political opinions and levels of intelligence. Those who have attended special study programs at APU tend to care about their classes more.

Some are academically driven and are there because they want to be, while others are not motivated at all to excell in school and they are there simply because they feel that they have to be there. Most of them are at least optimistic and will do the minimum amount of work. There are a few students who will go above and beyond what they need to do and a few who will do much less than they need to do. Overall, everyone wants to succeed, but some do not want to do the work in order to succeed.

They are very conservative but friendly.

They are somewhat varied, yet many come from better off families but they are ususally very kind and open and helpful.
