I love my school! Cabrillo is a place for any student of any age, and offers a huge variety of subjects. Not only are classes well taught by enthusiastic teachers, but there is a class and a major for anyone. Any age is welcome on campus and in classes, and a there is a large variety of people and beliefs. Everyone, though, shares the common want to be there and support their own education as well as that of others around them.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

What I love about this college is that people are really friendly and understanding and teachers answer their emails and call back when a situation could lead to teacher dropping you from the class or family issues about a certain problem. Teachers understand if you are having a tough day or hardship in your life.

Cabrillo is a fantastic Community College with great facilities, professors, and clubs. The arts facilities have recently been renovated and rival that of a UC. The music department is really fantastic and has some great opportunities to start someone off in the recording and live sound industry. The science departments are pretty good, with the addition of the stem center where I personally live. The bio department has cadavers that they are able to study in anatomy which is a really great experience. The weights gym is huge and has some really great equiptment. Some of the Humanities and social science rooms are old but they are clean and still work . The science professors are passionate and usually available after lecture for clarification. There are some great clubs to join that are very active like the robotics club and natural history.

Cabrillo college is a great school! Aptos has the best scenery of the ocean during sunny days and even if it's raining everything still looks magnificent. Love how everyone interacts with each other throughout the whole campus. Most of the instructors are great too!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I think it is a beautiful looking school, but very sexist in the communications department, negligence to student's identity and health by lack of accessibility to menstrual products and the right bathroom. The student elections are based off of lack of people running rather than actual democracy or liking the candidate. The money designated to the school through bonds is commonly prioritized for technical upgrades rather than the student's physical and mental needs. The food provided in the cafeteria doesn't leave much room for vegans or vegetarians or health consciousness in general.

Great starting place to then go on to another college. There are so many interstring and fun things to do at the school and the area. Every teacher is different but everyone has been a joy to work with and learn from. I cant wait to continue my college career here.

Cabrillo College is a community college that I would highly recommend. The faculty are devoted to ensuring each student's success. Professors make classroom environments interactive and enjoyable, everyday I come home excited by what I have learned. The school's location makes it very accessible to those commuting by bus or car and the recreational facilities are great for use. The cafeteria and nearby food places makes lunch time at Cabrillo a hassle free and delicious experience.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back to my senior year of high school and talk to myself I would advise myself to embrace being independent. My first year of college I made some bad decisions that I am not proud of. I want to go back in time and tell myself that I should stick to my values and beliefs and not let anyone sway me in the wrong direction. I do not regret much, but I do regret putting my trust in people who ended up abusing it. I would advise myself to get use to depending only on the strength and love of Christ, because that is always constant and consistent.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known to just take all of the general education required classes first, and then to take the classes for my specific major.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

The type of person that should attend this school would be an independent person who is self driven.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Perhaps the greatest struggle in life is to have a "balanced life." When things don't go as planned, it's okay; everything we go through presents an opportunity to grow. The sooner you can create a more balanced schedule, the sooner you will be running on victory lane. Yes, it is crucial to do well in school, but it is also crucial to have a life-giving community. Create specific study times in your calendar and once or twice a week be intentional about spending time with family or friends. Do keep in mind, college is not the same as high school, so don't focus too much on your social life. It is not fill in the blank worksheets. You will need to learn how to do research and study independently (and effectively). Invest in the people surrounding you, especially professors. Not only are they here to help you, they care deeply about you and want to use their wisdom, intelligence, and advise to help you in your life and educational journey. Live authentically and with purpose; the people surronding you are worth knowing and investing in. When an opportunity to serve someone presents itself, don't hesitate.

What's unique about your campus?

Affordability! It has been such a joy to be able to pay cash for school, generally only $2000 a year in contrast to $30,000 or more! My family is upper class, which prevents me from being eligible for financial aid. Ironically, 40% of their income goes to the government and by the time they are finished paying bills they don't have enough left over to help with the cost of my education. Cabrillo is definitely affordable ($45 a unit), especailly for the great education you get!

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

For most, it takes at least a year longer to finish their degrees when attending Cabrillo. This is primarily due to the limited classroom availability and competition to get into courses. Academic counselors also tend to give poor advise in regards to what courses to take and transferring. I personally had to add another year to my education because of inaccurate advise.
