My advice to the students going to college is first think about what you love to do and what you would love to do for the rest of your life. If you don't know what you to do with your life, then wait to go to school or go to school and figure it out by taking different course to see what you are interested in. I made my first mistake by hopping on the banwagon and going to school right after high school and not knowing what I want to do for the rest of my life. I ended up dropping out and getting a job for 3 years before I found out my true passion in life. To make the most of your college experience, MEET people, make as many friends as possible. Try something new, whether it's some kind of food or even an activity. With the friends you make, you will not forget these memories for the rest of your life.

As a parent, I would advise my child to get and understand of things they would want to accomplish and possible engage in while they are attending a university. If you child is more into music and arts, they should look into schools that cater to that interest. Also, make sure your child understands that higher education is just not a privilage but a way for a person to grow both intelectually, socially and mentally. College is a way to discover yourself, so picking the right college is essential. Another important idea to relate to your child is that, they shouldn't feel bad if they don't like the school they have chosen. There are thousand of schools available and they shouldn't feel trapped or obligated to stay in a situation that they do not feel comfortable in. It would be a waste of money, time and effort.

Find a college that has a size appropraite to you. Make sure you don't like small class sizes and then get stuck at a school that only has large lecture halls. Get involved in your school, have fun, and make as many friends as you can, because they will stay with you forever.

Choose a college which is close to where you live so that you can enjoy the college life. you can go to college whenever you want to so that you can volunteer and participte in other activities.
