College of William and Mary Top Questions

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Dylan

This school can be described as underwhelming and unsastifying. On bad days it is as lame as Tiny Tim.

I firmly hold to the idea that anyone complaining about William and Mary's students or faculty are simply not trying hard enough. Good friends and a good education are not going to come to you - you have to go out and find them, no matter where you are. Get out of your room and go do something you love - chances are there are other people here who love to do that too.

This is not meant to be (entirely) derogatory, but if you're thinking about greek life at college and you enjoy wearing oversized fake pearls, vera bradley purses, j.crew. "critter" shorts, and seersucker (all in pink), then William and Mary has a sorority to fit you (like 8 of them). I won't be completely unfair, there are one or two sororities who pride themselves on being different--A Chi O is often the most noted "alternative" sorority--these girls wear their seersucker with a little rebel thrown in, fishnets, noise rings, what have you.

I have considered transferring, and thought a lot about what would have been if I had picked a different school, but in the end, W&M is the place I have decided to stay.

William and Mary is the picture of a system that is on its last leg and gasping for breath. It is being set up for a major downfall, and it frankly deserves it.

Alexandra

William & Mary was my safety school.

Although William and Mary gives students a lot of work to do, fun is by no means out of the picture. Students make their own fun, and UCAB does a good job of bringing a range of outside entertainment to the school, and all of my friends love it here. Williamsburg, although not quite as exciting as New York City, is charming, and has its own advantages. Running down DoG street and watching the tourists never gets boring.

-not to argue that the students need alcohol to have a good time, but WM needs more of a night scene. WM needs more entertainment off campus rather than on campus. i think this makes the biggest difference. rather than throw parties in people's dorm rooms, students need to go bar hopping. unfortunately we can't do this because we only have one real bar, and one Delly. i don't know, this is a personal gripe. -other than that, however, i think that the College is like any other school, only slightly more socially awkward (that is, socially conscious, and shy about their consciousness), and a bit more hard working and self-punishing. it is true we are overachievers, but we're also socially challenged, and are always reaching out for one another. in the end, i think we're a very friendly group of people who are ready to reach out and connect with our other citizens of the College.
