Ash

Bobby

Alpha Kappa Psi, Work, School, Alpha Kappa Psi, Sleep, partying oh did i say Alpha Kappa Psi......

Angelica

I have to say that the most popular groups or clubs on campus are the greeks, most students either join a sorority or fraternity, but also the Student Government Association, Student Programming Council, and SOC. I am a proud brother of Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity and yes I am a girl but this organization is co-ed! I don't live on campus so I really don't know much about students and their dorms all I know is that there is alot of security. Athletic events are popular, although we have a awful football team students still go! So hooray for those that do! I met my closest friends through AKPsi, but also my best friend has been from high school. If I was to be up at 2pm on a Tuesday, I will be probably at the Library (I have to say we have like the biggest and most gorgeous library on the southeastern coast). In my opinion I feel like we party like all the time, but still manage to maintain our grades! Usually when I am not on campus I go out with my family and boyfriend, because I am really family-oriented!

Daphne

FIU doesn't have such a huge Greek life as compared to other schools. It probably is because of the fact that most students commute.

Anthony

There are many opportunities for students to get involved and these include clubs, organizations, fraternities, and intramural athletic leagues. Commuter student participation could be improved but the possibilities are numerous.

Mike

Fraternities

I think Delta Phi Epsilon and Pi Kappa Phi is probally the most popular groups. Im in Alpha Kappa Psi, which is a co-ed business fraternity, so our focus is on developing premier business leaders. Students only leave their dorm room doors open once you step into their actual suite. Athletic events arent that popular. Some guest speakers are. People are dating some on the low, some in your face. Homecoming & Relay 4 Life & Dance Marathon In my fraternity Im on the computer wasting time Im 25, i dont party like a college kid anymore Not important at all Worked and got ready for some powerpoint presentations setup some business meeting for my company work, expand my distribution company, and relax

Hunter

Alpha Kappi Psi rules!!

Harper

Greeks are most popular. I love AKPsi because I feel like we stand for smart educated business people who are geared towards bettering themselves. Students do not leave their dorms door open, its discouraged because of the thieft. I stay up late doing fraternity stuff. People party often. Last weekend I was at a retreat. Saturday nights you can watch movies on campus or at the theatre, hang out, do homework...etc

Ryan

greek life is too small of a world...great organizations though ..good causes

Chris

FIU is constantly full of people but it hard to meet new friends because the people that are there on campus are constantly flowing in and out - because it's commuter school. The few new friends I have made at FIU are usually the by-product of having bonded over an excruciatingly hard class or project.

Maria

Greek life is the way to go on campus. Other activities are select honor societies and councils organized by school.

Jessie

Alpha Kappa Psi

jaime

there are always different things going on to help the students have a good time

Tristan

The most popular organizations on campus are the sororities and fraternities. I am part of a co-ed Business Fraternity: Alpha Kappa Psi. I love being a part of it. My brothers motivate me to better myself and are always around when I need them. Last weekend I went to a Jazz festival in Doplhin Stadium.

Mel

miami is an awesome place to party... our dorms aren't like the big school's dorms where there is a more friendly environment

Nico

The most popular people on campus are the social greeks. I am involved with an academic fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. Yes students in dorms leave their doors open. Athletics, guest speakers, and theatre is not very popular. Friends date each other. I met my closest friends in the Honors college and in AKPsi. If I am awake at 2 am on a Tuesday I am studying or procrastinating studying. Yearly traditions and events are Homecoming, FIU/UM games, Rush, Celebration of holidays in th GC pit. People party often. Frats and Sororities are imortant. Last weekend I went to officer training in Stetson for my Frat. On Saturdays you can go to the movies, the fair, bowling, etc. Off campus I do everything.

Harper

Could be better.

Veronica

I an involved with Music Saves Lives, they are amazing. Panther Promotions is an excellent club which helps in the promotion and advertisement of upcoming movies. There are amazing guest speakers but not many students are aware of what is going on and there should be better promotion of these spectacular events. At orientation or annually, they should have a list of all clubs, honor societys and other social organizations of that sort.

Bryce

FIUsocial life of or activities is not one of its best. I have been the FIUTTC (FIU Table Tennis Club) coordinator and I teach or train FIUTTC members. Mostly the typicaldating scene in FIU happens in a classroom where you meet someone in one of your classes; started studying together, becoming friends and at the long or short run ended up liking one another. FIU is not a party school compared to other universities.

Iris

The most popular groups on campus are those involved with fraternities and sororities. They're a very active group of individuals with many on-campus projects. Most of the groups though, in general, are closely knit. I'm involved with the student newspaper, which certainly brings about some stress - but since it's with a group, there's a very valuable support system available, just like Greek organizations. Athletic events are relatively popular, but spirit has diminished due to a struggling athletics department (mainly, football - FIU has recently had disastrous seasons). Students do manage to go out and show support, though. FIU traditions include: Dance Marathon (university fund raiser for local children hospitals), Trail of the Torch, homecoming/welcome week, on-campus films and other events and activities. As far as I can tell, many students party over the weekend with friends or hang out with close companions. During the week, some choose to attend what's called "Thursdays @ the Cove" (www.thecovemiami.com).

Max

Most popular groups are fraternities/sororities. Not involved in any groups, yet. Don't live in dorms. Football games are fun. Have not heard any guest speakers or seen a theater act. My closest friends are friends from high school and my fiancee, who doesn't go to FIU. If I'm awake at 2am on a Tuesday, I'm probably at home studying. No traditions at school for me. People party every weekend it looks like to me. Frats/sororities are important to some, dull to me. I went camping last weekend. I can do anything that doesn't involve drinking. I go to church, I work, and I hang out with my family and friends.

Sarah

I am involved with Alpha Kappa Psi, the professional business fraternity. I love it. Everyone should join.

Jessie

social greeks - Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi), Professional Business Frat. - not sure if they do - i think event popularity is low - dating scene is healthy (lol), it is fine - i meet them through AKPsi - If i am awake, i am studying or chatting on the computer - Sporting events, Relay for Life, Dance Marathon, Career Week, Job Fair, Business Symposium, Finance Conference, Homecoming and much more - I think like 2-4 times a week - I think they are very important - Movies, shopping, get-together, frat. ritual, and study

Jonathan

FIU, hands down/no holds, HAS A PHENOMINAL SOCIAL LIFE AND STUDENT INVOLVED ACTIVITIES!!! It's up to the students whether thay want to find and participate in what FIU has to offer its students. There isn't one night that something isn't happening for students to participate in on campus. There's always something to do on campus.

Casey

don't know- choose not to be involved- never lived in dorms- no idea- no idea- not at FIU- ladies night in the grove- no idea- thurs, fri, sat usually- not sure at FIU- mini golf, out for drinks, the mall, apartment shopping- mini golf, bowling, walk around the grove, movies, theater, improv comedy club, walk up and down lincoln road- everything is off campus, campus basically shuts down on the weekends since not many students live on campus.

Rory

Though I don't live on campus, I really don't see much of a social life on campus. This aspect of college life is difficult because, again, a large majority of the students are commuters.

Ari

Dance Marathon and the Greeks are the most popular groups on FIU. I'm involved in the Honors College. Athletic events are not popular at all, unless you are related to an athlete or dating one.Guest speakers are somewhat popular, as well as theatre. The dating scene isn't a huge deal, seems like everyone who is dating has been dating for years. I know my closest friend through high school or random meetings. I'm awake on Tuesday nights either studying or chatting online. I'm not aware of any FIU traditions. People party often, I don't. Greeks are too important, its really stupid. Last weekend I volunteered at a festival for children with special needs and saw a movie premiere, thanks to free movie tickets provided by FIU. My friends and I have board games or movie nights, that doesn't involve drinking. I study and hang out while off campus.

Jen

We have had some amazing lecturers come speak, from MLK III to Jeff Corwin. Our theatre department is fantastic and almost always has a new show. The athletic events aren't so popular, but many student organizations host tailgates. Fraternities and sororities aren't everything, but they are an involved and active sector of the student body. I met most of my friends through my classes and clubs I am involved in. The opportunities to have fun and get a (campus) life are endless!

Meliza

Social Fraternities and Sororities are definitely the most popular I am involved mostly with Student Government, Honors College, and the Business Frat No they do not, laptops are commonly stolen Not too popular, when I go to football games I say theres like 30 people at the stands. Speakers tend to generate the most people because the group who brought the speaker all goes and we have some interesting speakers like Jeff Corwin tonight I met my friends in high school, I meet people here, but we do not go out on weekend I am usually doing homework at 2am Relay for Life and Dance Marathon are huge annual events People party mostly on weekend I'd say, every weekend Fraternizes and Sororities are most involved on campus and attract many student so I'd say they're very important Last weekend I was at Relay for Life, its 24 hours so it was the whole weekend for me I like watching movies or just going down to the beach and trying out new restaurants I am not off campus a lot but when I am I get together with my best friend and shop, I love movies, and I tend to hang around my house and either invite some friends over or spend some time with my family
