Maria

Most FIU students are Hispanic Students.

jaime

second tier school, anyone can get in

Kendall

commuter school bad tippers

FIU is a commuter school. FIU is a hispanic school. FIU accepts anyone.

Mel

school for losers that couldn't go to a better college

Nico

They are mostly hispanic, they are commuter students, bad at athletics, mostly in state.

Harper

That they are not active in school affairs.

Veronica

Stereotypes of FIU include not the greatest school and FIU studenst have no pride or school spirit towards FIU

Bryce

FIU stereotype is that only few professors know how to teach.

Iris

FIU has been labeled as an "under par" school. Some people see the school in general as a "safety" school with easy admissions. Students, though, are not seen as slackers or misfits. The school is too diverse to really stick a label on students, but the body can be separated by those involved in Greek life and those not (as in any other college or university).

Nico

One Stereotype about FIU is that FIU always messes up people's records. My husband had his experience with FIU. He has yet to receive his second degree since 2002.

Max

FIU has a reputation for being a second-tier university, which it is not. It is Miami's research institution that offers a high degree of education, and a long list of graduates that are attending professional schooling, or have already graduated.

Brett

That students that go to FIU go there because they did not get in their first choice school.

Sarah

cuban

Jessie

FIU IS Not as good as UM

Ash

all hispanic people go to that school

TJ

None that I'm aware of.

Jonathan

I've heard a lot of junk talk about FIU and FIU students being the underpar students (being compared to those students whom attend UM). However, I believe FIU is a merging institution with amenities not offered at other state universities. I chose this school over UM due to its reputable character as a leading school for education majors. The majority of Miami-Dade Public Schools teachers and administrators are graduates of the phenominal education programs here at FIU.

Casey

-mostly hispanic students who live with their families in the area -students who didn't want to leave home/couldn't get in anywhere else -FIU's administration is disorganized, never get any straight answers -very very few out of state students -located in a dominantly spanish speaking neighborhood

Lindsay

There are no Stereotypes about FIU students in general. Miami is such a big city that you can choose the commuter life, campus life, or both. Its difficult to say what an FIU student is, you can find anything and everything on campus.

Rory

FIU is thought by many to be a sort of "last-resort" university, that it is only for people who cannot get into the University of Miami, or those who don't want to leave home. I certainly thought so myself, before I decided to attend.

Carson

Some of the stereotypes of FIU students is that they have no school spirit because we go to a commute school.

Ari

Some general stereotypes are that FIU students are not very intelligent, that the school is not well equipped for good students and do no provide a well education for those who want one, just because it is an commuter school and is quite young.

Jenny

That students are easily accepted and that it only provides a mediocre education.

Jen

We have a lot of commuter and night students, so there's no one stereotype that fits everyone except for that they live very busy lives and have little time to get involved with school.

Meliza

Some stereotypes are that people come here because they have no other choice and it is cheap. That FIU students are students who did not get into UF.
