Liberty University Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Jesse

I can think of very little. I spent a year in a school in upstate NY. The experience that I gained from there have allowed me to be very thankful for what I have here at Liberty.

Kaitlyn

The worst thing about Liberty University is the parking. Liberty is still a young school, but it is growing very quickly. There are about 13000 resident students and freshman are allowed to have cars on campus, unlike some schools. There is several parking lots, but they fill very quickly. The good thing is that there is a bus system; waiting on a bus does ot take long at all. So there are alternatives to the bad parking and walking never hurt anyone.

Eric

Threre are very strict rules and guilines such as a curfew and a dresscode

Joy

Lack of financial aid for online students.

Heather

There are not too many bad things to say about Liberty University. I would say that the worst thing was the midnight curfew. I did not like this because I am 18 years old and believe that I can make my own decisions on such matters.

maxcey

The fact that it is so big, would be the worst thing. There are so many students, it is very easy to get lost in the crowd. My evangelism class had over 500 students. So it is impossible to get to know everyone and very hard to make new friends. I only at the end of the class, was able to find out that more than not alot of the students in this class were in my other classes too. Also there are so many students. causing alot of staff, which makes it hard to deal with only one person.

Jenna

The worst thing about Liberty University is the food in our dining hall. The food is ok, but not that good tasting. It is pretty much the same type of food every day. So students here usually get tired of the food we are served.

Kathy

The only thing i could say is the worst thing about Liberty University is that it is so far from where i live, i would like to be able to tour the campass

Rachel

The worst aspect of Liberty University (in the view of some over others) is the strict rules. For example, every resident student must be in their dorm by 12 on school nights, room checks for cleanliness are three times a week, cussing will get you repremends, and anything against the Liberty way (as far as R rated movies etc.) will also get you repremends. Being a private Christian school I appreciate the goal to create an environment supporting those views, but I believe too much control doesn't allow streghting independance in the students.

Liltoyntia

I have not yet found something I would consider "the worst thing" about liberty. I enjoy attending the school and I feel there is a great balance of spiritual teachings as well as academics.

Nathan

The worst thing about this school is really the same as many college campuses, the students who are here simply to "receive an education." This leads to complacency, and lack of hard work. In reality, these peole need to learn that you do not receive anything, you must take it.

Dina

What I consider the worst about Liberty University is the dress code. Does not allow students to really express themselves through clothes

Jessica

If you live on campus you have to attend convocation three times a week. Which is basically like going to church.

Sarah

I would say the worst thing about this school is it's food, but even that's not bad. For me this school is wonderful all round. There's not much I can think of that's a deffinite bad thing. I said the food is the worst thing, but really that's just the main cafeteria, there are so many other places to eat that have amazing food, and the cafeteria could be much worse.

Emily

Nothing

dana

it's in virginia and not new jersey

Jeremy

Just to aspect of too much political talk despite it being a Christian school. I could really careless about it because I came to college to get an education, and since it is Liberty to grow spiritual. I don't need someone telling me how I should vote or to go out there and protest against things like abortion. It is my choice of whether or not I want to do something like that.

Ashley

I think the worst thing I can think of at the moment is the dinner hours to go to the dining hall. Dinner hours is from 5 till 7, and I don't usually like to go to dinner that early.

Jennifer

Liberty University has so much to offer the students of the world and they claim to, regardless of what it costs them, want to accept all who apply. Their noble efforts only end up costing their veteran students more than they accounted for and their new students more than they were told. Education IS priceless, but for its efforts; Liberty is too expensive.

Russel

I haven't come across anything bad except some glitches they hadn't fixed yet.

Susan

I think the worst thing about my school is that they focus more on the fun things instead of the acadmeic things. They put their money into fun things instead of putting it into academic buildings or dorm.

Katelyn

The worst thing about my school would be the Rot. It our dinning hall and although the food is decent, its the same stuff constantly. One can only eat the same things for so long before it tastes bad.

Anna

Liberty University does not have many attributes that I would consider bad. Liberty is stricter than most universities including some rules, but these rules only produce stronger and better students.

David

The administration has not allowed the science department to reach their full potential. The science faculty are more than qualified and more than capable of running an "ivy league" quality biology and chemistry department, but the administration is slow to allow the faculty to do what they need to do financially and academically to do so. Things are beginning to change and the school will get there eventually, but well after I've graduated. My education was still top notch, though.

Samuel

I'm actually transfering to Liberty University for Fall 2010 coming out of an HBCU public school. From my visit to the university, I would say that the worst thing is having to meet curfew all the time. Alot of places shut down around 9pm so there's not much night life in the town itself.

Timothy

It is very hard to come up with anything negative about Liberty but the only thing I would say is that they put too much money into the football program and not enough in other places such as expanding the gym or other facilities that need improvements.

Joshua

The worst thing about my school is dress code. We are required to wear collared shirts or sweaters to class here. This really is not a big deal but so far it's the most annoying aspect of the school. For me, the way I dress is a way to express myself and I also use it to keep myself humble and looking at people with equality. My natural tendancy is to throw on a t-shirt and so it is a slight inconvenience to make sure I am following dress code. However, dress code is only a minor adjustment.

Kelsey

Currently I'm doing Online studies through Liberty University. The worst thing for me personally is that I get no on-campus experience. Due to the Distance Learning Program, it's difficult to identify as a student of the particular school. A few years back I attended a local Community College where I was able to soak up knowledge in person. Despite the assumed and stereotyped "lower education quality" - I firmly believe I learned more there because of the setting than I have so far through my current school.

Caitlyn

The worst thing about my school is how they change the books right before class starts. They change the books like a week if that before class and then give you very little time to order them. They also have special books and dvd lessons to by only through them. I enjoy this school other than the sudden changes all the time.

Kayla

The worst thing I can think of about my school would be the way Liberty does the parking stickers. It changed to a first come first serve basis and not many students knew about this. There ended up being many older students who had to park extrememly far away from their dorms instead of getting closer parking as they had expected. The freshman arrive one week earlier than everyone else so many freshman had prime parking while older students with jobs and internships they had to get to, had to park a good distance away.

Kandice

Financial aid office is extremely unqualified to do their job well because communication between departments is poor.

Shauna

Parking is horrible and traffic is really bad because there are three other colleges in the area.

Samantha

Online students don't seem to have the opportunity to communicate with and support each other on a regular basis. As an online student, I would like to be in contact with more students who are in my degree program doing online learning.

Allyson

Liberty University is a fairly large school and there are so many students that must be taken care of. Most processes at Liberty are run by a computer system and technology cannot do everything. Some students are overlooked and are not taken care of in a way that benefits the student. There are people available at Liberty to work on the students behalf, but they do not catch everything either. It is very important as a student to keep track of all of your records and to recheck everything dealing with your education!

Mark

I am not on campus.

Tazjanique

On mondays, wednesdays, and fridays my university has convocation (Chapel) and its mandatory for all students to attend. Its a wonderful cause but at the same time it's at 10a.m a time that could be used for something else. I appreciate convocation (Chapel) but i would appreciate it more i it wasn't 3 days out of the week.

Rosanne

I don't think there is anything wrong with my school. I chose it because it provides everything i need and want in a college. The fact that it is a christian college just makes it better.

Henry

The worst thing for me personally is that I am completing this degree for a second career and at this stage in my life I am not able to attend full time due to other commitments. As a result of being part time, I have to pay a slightly higher tuition rate.

Davana

I really love my experience at Liberty University Online. The only thing that may be a disadvantage is the distance from my home.

Lauren

I think the worst thing about Liberty is riding the buses across campus. The buses tend to be a hassle because the campus is so big the buses have alot of people on them and sometimes you can be late for class.

LaVerne

The worst campus is faraway, I'm online student due to working hours.

Wendy

The worst thing about Liberty U is that they don't provide a way for their students who are in the BS Education program to obtain teacher certification. I would appreciate the opportunity to gain that certification within the school.

adam

Proximity to me. Lynchburg is in Virginia, I live in Georgia.

Tricia

The hardest thing about going to Liberty is being able to fully involved in things that will be of use to you. There are many activities going on around the campus, and a student must be choose what they want to be involved in. This can create a problem when a studnet wishes to be involved in several activities, but cannot becasue of time constraints. But there are always many things to be involved in if one wants to be involved.

James

It has reached its maximum capacity for number of students so campus can get a little cramped.

Jessica

It can sometimes be overcrowded. The university tends to accept more students than it is able to accomodate.

Allison

Curfew. Because it would be nice to have the option of going out to the store or something after curfew. But there really isn't anything to do after curfew because many things close before curfew.

Shandra

The worst thing about our school are a few of the intersections on campus. There aren't enough stop signs, or other methods of controlling traffic. There have been several fender benders since the beginning of the year, and there will probably be more until it's fixed. Other than that, I have not found anything to complain about so far.

Andrea

The worst thing about my school is that it only has one location. It is in Lynchburg, Virginia and I live in Houston, Texas.

Jonathon

the worst is the curfew because it limits our freedom of being adults and making decisions for ourselves
