What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Faith, friends, and family are the most important things. Go after what you want, but remember how you were brought up and don't go to college just to drink. Go to learn and to make yourself, your friends, and your family, and your God proud. Don't feel bogged down, because many people are not sure what they want, and changing majors is not difficult. Just follow your heart.

What's unique about your campus?

It is a very focused and tight community.

Keep your beliefs and values as top priorities when choosing a school. These can have a huge influence on your experience since they will be reflected in the school policies, profs and other students.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

It is a Christ-centered school where both students and professors work together to prepare you for a life of service in the church. Everyone is bonded together by that common goal, so there is a feeling of closesness among the students on campus.

As a parent, make sure you are supportive of your child in their school choice. Going to college is a hard enough experience as it is, but to have parents who don't support your decision, makes it even harder. Stay involved with your child's activites in school to show that even though they might be far away at college, you still care about them and support their decision. As a student, it's not necessarily true that you have to be sure about your career choice when you enter college. Go to the college of your choice with an open mind, willing to accept that while at school for a certain major, you might find something else that peaks your interest. Don't settle for a career choice just because you think that's the only thing you can do. Be passionate about what you want to do in life, and realize it might take you a while to figure it out. Be involved at school in as many activites as you can and make lots of friends, so when you look back on your college career, you don't regret anything.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Since it is located in a smaller town, it is sometimes hard to stay up to date with what is happening in the world around you. It sometimes gets the 'campus bubble' feeling.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

MLC offers an opportunity for those wishing to be a pastor or teacher in the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod. The preparation is complete and for a private school, the price is quite competitive. The education we receive surpasses that of many other top-notch schools.

College is a time to learn about yourself and who you are and who you want to be. You have countless opportunities to explore and learn. Make the most of them. You do not want to go through life thinking, "What if I had tried out for that?" or "What if I had taken that course?" Go with your gut and be true to yourself. Do not be pressured by those around you. If something or someone makes you feel uncomfortable, walk away from them. You are now a young adult. You make your own decisions in your life. Know how to have fun, but be diligent with your studies as well. Become a well-rounded person for life.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The only school that focuses everyone on preparing for the public ministry according to the doctrines of the bible as presented by the Wisconsin Evengelical Lutheran Synod.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The two most important things when choosing a college are that the college provides the program you are interested in and that you are built up in your faith by being able to surround yourself with people who share your faith.

Find a college that offers strong programs in the area that you desire. If you're unsure as to what field you'd like to enter after graduation, attend a college that offers strong programs in many different areas. Study all sorts of different subjects and stick with one that you find yourself passionate about.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

I think that Martin Luther College is a great place for students to attend if they wish to become a teacher or minister due to its small class sizes, its dedicated teaching staff, and its friendly environment.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

When deciding what college fits best into the students plans, you need to remember a few things. College is a very important step in your life. Good grades and involvement in extra-curriculars can get you the necessary skills and support to do the best you can in whatever you do. Remember, however, that college is not all about the "school" part. It is the best time in your life to have fun, make life-long friends, and live with no regrets. College needs to be a good mix between responsibilty and your final hoorah before you enter the full-time work force. Be careful to balance those two sides carefully because if they're not balanced, you will not get everything you should from college.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I feel that the worst thing about Martin Luther College is the fact that there are way too many stupid rules.

It is small and has only three major programs of study. While there are subsections to each major you are either studying to be a pastor, a teahcer, or a staff minister.

Look at the schools test scores (ACT) and where you fall in relation to those test scores. Choose someplace that offers one of the best training for the career you intend to pursue. Of course find out if the school is accredited. If education is something you want to pursue as a career choice look at if the college will offer you an opportunity for your state lisence (espeically if it is a private college) and how widely that state lisence is accepted. Other than that find a school where the professors and the dean are there to help you, make you feel at home, and are outgoing and personable to you and your family.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Little things that big universities have that our school still is working on getting or doesn't have.
