When looking for a college to go to pick the college that you want to go to not what everyone else wants. And while you at college dont fall under peer pressure do what you want if you dont want to party or drink dont. I am a sophmore at Morehead State University and i picked it becuase of the price, the campus size, and the surroundings. Everyone should experience the college life it really does change your life and gives you a different out look on life. But just remember college isnt just about having fun and getting drunk. I have never drunk in my life and never went to a college party and still am having the time of my life.

I would tell the parents and students to try to find a school that meets the student's academic needs and is financially affordable for the family. I would encourage the student to take part in as much of the collage experience on campus as possible, which ranges from sociallizing to volunteering for the community.

The only way to find out if a college is right for you is to visit the campus, talk to the students, and find out what the classes are like. To make the most of your college experience, you need to be willing to try new things, step outside of your comfort zone, and find a balance between the academic and social aspects of your life.

The size of a college is a big factor when choosing. Though my particular college is small, it does have alot of advantages when communicating with the instructors. High school is based on standardized tests and reguardless of how hard you try in highschool, you will be forced to pay for your school on your own if your parents are successful. I just wish that I recieved some type of financial assistance because my parents have their own bills to pay and cannot put me through college.

Take advantage of any and all scholarship and grant money as possible as soon as possible. Do what you enjoy and what you can see yourself doing for the rest of your life.

Every one needs more schooling.

Choosing the right college can be a very difficult process. However, there are several steps that a student can take in order to help narrow down their choices. First off, the student needs to look at the location and size of their college of interest. This is a large aspect of choosing a college. If the location (rural or urban areas) and size (classroom and total student population) is not what the student is looking for or wanting then they will probably not like the college once they are attending. Another aspect that they can look at is the classes offered and the degrees available. The student can also visit the college, sit in on prospective classes, and talk with current students and alumni. If they were to do this, they can truly get a feel of what the collge will be like. While looking at this, a student can narrow down the college choices. While choosing the right college is hard enough, more importantly, making the most of the college experience takes a little time and practice. The student needs to get involved with different clubs and activities, as well as being plugged into the social aspect of college.

Choose a school that best fits the personality of your son or daughter or as a student yourself. Many peopel already have an idea of what type of college experience they want. I think it is important to visit the campus and learn about the school before making a decision.

Amanda

I feel like to make the most out of your college experience you need to contribute to it in some way. Parents who just hand over money to their children are really doing them a dis-service because they are not appreciating it in a way someone would if they had to pay for at least part of it on their own.

Go to a college that is the size and preference that you like. For example if you like smaller town atmospheres go to a smaller school. Also, start a college fund even if its only 10$ a month! I didnt have that and my parents didnt go to college so they didnt know what to do and now i am so far in deft with loans and owe the school so much money I just dont know what to do but try and stay positive.

Your intended major is the biggest concern you should consider when looking for colleges. Smaller colleges, in my opinion, are the best options because the students have a better opportunity for one on one with the faculty. Extra-curriculars are also a big factor, because if you child is bored outside of class, they will be dissatisfied with their college experience, and they may not do as well as they could and/or should.

I have a little brother who is a junior in high school and I gave him this advice: Choose a school that fits. Don't pick it solely on atheletics (my mistake). Don't pick it cause your family tells you that's the right choice. Even if you are a partier, don't pick it because it has the best parties. Visit the campus, meet the students, and find a way to explore the campus life, on and off campus. The idea is to pick the school that is going to give you the college experience that YOU have always imagined, academically and socially.

When looking for a college to attend ,I think the best thing to remember is this. Bigger is not always better. You should look for schools that have the program available that you want, then look at the smaller schools and communities. I feel smaller is better because you are not a face in the crowd. You have a name ,professors know you,and you tend to get a better education because of it. You want to get the most out of your time in college. This is the best way I feel to do it. Another reason why smaller is better is the community is smaller. The businesses know that you are there for a reason. They tend to help you out,and take care of you. The police force also tends to be more of a presence on campus, and there is less trouble. So don't always think bigger is better . Look at the small schools and communities . There just might be the right one for you in a little town near you.

I would advise parents and students to visit as many campuses as possible so that they have a good understanding of what is offered. In my experience, a college may look good on paper but until you visit the campus you never really know what it is like. The best time to visit the campus is during the regular school week so that you can see what the college will be like on a regular basis. I found that it was best to set up a private tour of the campus instead of coming on an open house day because you were able to see a lot more and could ask more questions. Once you have chosen a school, make the most of it by getting involved. Most campuses have student activity boards that plan fun things for students throughout the week, so keep a sharp eye! I found that once you start putting yourself out there people will flock to you because almost everyone is just like you--nervous and looking to make friends. Most of all, don't be afraid to try new things and meet new people because that's what college is all about!

The advice I would give would be to visit many universities and look for the the situation and place for that particular student. I believe that given the right environment anyone can succeed. The time you spend at college should not only be academic but be social and fun. If you won't enjoy your time at a particular university, I promise the academics will slip.

Go to all the school's you are looking at and make sure they fit right to you. If you know someone who attends the college, try and arrange an overnight visit so you can see the dorm rooms up close. Get involved early, whether through the greek community, SGA, church groups or major-related clubs, getting involved is important to making the most out of your college experience.

No matter how much they tell you there?s no way you will ever be prepared. For every school you?re considering you should visit for an entire weekend. The things they never tell you about happen on the weekend. I?m not talking about the parties but the student activities, the studying. On the weekend you see the true living at school. If you feel you could find yourself living there for nine months, check into what degrees the school has to offer. Then consider what your interests are. Its true what ever your current interests are will have an impact on what you decide to do with your life. There?s simple searches you can do to see how people rate the school. So you can see how your opinion compares to others. Just because the school has amazing academic standing doesn?t make it a good school. You should also check it stats. Such as how many graduate within 4 years. How many drop out each year. The number of students that receive x{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} amount of aid from the school. It sounds like a lot but before you pick a school make sure you do your research.

Follow your heart and make sure you do things in college that you are not going to regret down the road. Live the college life and have fun!! Always put your school work and classes first though!

Advice I would give to students and parents about finding the right college is to first find out what kind of college you're interested in. Take into consideration teacher to student ratios, the amount of studying needed for each class, the availability of the professors, and possibly the traveling distance. The advice I'd give to students about how to make the most out of their college experiences, is to go to the university's programs and meet new people. Sign up for a sorority or fraternity, join a club or organization on campus, become active in your campus' activities. Students should be theirselves and remember to not become too wrapped up on the social part of college and forget about their coursework. The last advice I would have for future students is to know what kind of student you are and to always allow time for studying and doing homework!

Sarah

Parents, dont have so much control over your kids. Have trust that when they are away at college they will make the right decisions. Let them have freedom to express themselves.

Megan

Find a school that you feel comfortable in on the college visit. Choose a school where you're in the same kind of environment as when you are home, and if you get homesick, stay close to home. Also, unless you're completely committed, don't try a long distance relationship out of high school!

Brandon

I would tell them both to research the college, but mostly get input from the students. Every school will say they are the best at what they do so just talk to students and get the reality about the school.

Joshua

Personally, I think that finding the "right" college is all about where you came from and how you grew up. I chose Morehead State University because I came from a smaller town in Kentucky and kind of wanted to stay within the small community type of college. I like to think of it as, "A place where you can know everyone and everyone knows you, but big enough to where they're not always in your business." Some people feel different about going to a small school coming from a small town, but that also has to do with their personality. Making the most out of college and having the overall best college experience is all about time management and being able to get out and meet people. I believe that the more people you meet, the more activities you will get involved in, which leads to having many memories. Myself, I joined a fraternity and I have made some of my best friends. They will be the guys that are in my wedding and the guys that carry me to my grave. Basically, getting involved around campus no matter what the activity is, is the best thing to do!

Nate

Visit the campus and talk to people that you know who go to the possible universities of your choice.

Vanessa

Parents: Look for what you child wants. Not for what you want. Student: Chill out, relax, go where you think is best and what YOU want. You will be living here, not your parents.

Will

I would suggest living on campus. Parents let go. Its best. I didnt live on campus but I also didnt enjoy college like I wished I would have. I got started in life a little too soon. Started working full time while in college. It is not a good thing to do.

markesie

I would say to choice your school wisely and to get research on your school before you decide. Make sure they have your intrest at hand to be successful in life.
