When you step off campus, you see Hillsborough street which has a small-town feel to it. Most of the shops and restaurants are not chains, so it looks like a small town main street. On the other side is Western Boulevard, which is where all your chain places are located. This is a major road and reminds you of a city. Downtown Raleigh is just beautiful. There are so many places to go like clubs, pubs, bars, parks, greenways, and so many other things. There's so many places to go with friends or just get away from everything.
