If you know what's good for you, LIVE IN A DORM. You'll connect with new people and they'll become your family away from home. NC State boasts a lot of different living styles and locations all across campus. Some rooms are bigger than others, some bathrooms are nicer, some are hall style and some are suite style. It's really all about location and finding a fit for you. I lived on main campus in a Tri-Tower (Carroll Hall) for my freshman and sophomore years. This dorm is in the center of campus, and is a five-room plus a bathroom suite style building, with four suits per co-ed floor (but single-ed suites). Our bathrooms are cleaned by housekeepers and we have a great laundry room downstairs. All of the dorms are very nice and perfect for your first year (or two!) at State.

The dorms are kind of small. Not bad, just kind of small. It all depends on which dorm you are in and which style of dorm you would like. Personally I'm in a suite style dorm which I prefer because I feel especially safe with three locked doors between me and others. I also like the suite style because I only have to share the bathroom with seven other girls instead of an entire hall of them.

Most of the dorms are pretty nice. Most of the dorms are suite-style, which is so much better than hall-style dorms. Bragaw is definitely the nicest dorm available. Some dorms have smaller rooms, Sullivan for example. If you want a large room and your own bathroom and shower/tub, then go for Avent-Ferry. The only problem with Avent-Ferry is that it's a little farther walk than most dorms.

The dorms vary. Some rooms are very small and I like to describe them as a matchbox. Other rooms are a bit larger. Some buildings are much older than others. Most of the older buildings are scheduled for renovation for the Summers of 2012 and 2013. The dorms aren't exactly the most wonderful things, but I strongly suggest living in them for at least your first year. I have lived in them for two years and loved it. I did a random roommate assignment for my freshman year and it worked out wonderfully. My roommate and I decided to live together again for our sophomore year. I am moving off campus next year due to the need to cook to cater to a food allergy. Living in a dorm is a great way to meet people and is VERY convenient! I love having the ability to wake up, go down stairs and be within reasonable walking distance to my classes. The RA's have been fabulous! I love the two that I have had. They have been very helpful, informative, available, and friendly. I definitely think you would benefit from living in a dorm!

Depends on which dorms you are talking about. The apartments on campus like Wolf Village are pretty nice but will cost you a little more, but it is worth it because it really includes laundry and cable. You live with three other people and everyone has their own room and 2 people to each bathroom (2 bathrooms in all) THe Nicest dorms are in the Honors Village. They are not the biggest rooms but are nice. You don't have to be a honors students to live in the Honors Village. The biggest rooms are in Syme Hall.

Dorms come in every flavor and fashion. There are those that are too small to fit one person, alone 2; those dorms that are like bachelor appartments or the classic college dorm. Living in a dorm however is a great experience, it not only helps you be more relax, it also allows you to interact and meet so many other people.
