When you step off campus what do you see?

The prudential center, the reflecting pool, Fenway Park and Fenway Stadium, Newbury Street. Pretty much all of Boston is a short T ride away.

We're urban, so you see lots of buildings. If you step off campus on one side you'll see a few other colleges (WIT, Mass College of Art) and the Museum of Fine Art (which we can get into for free). The other side has the New England Conversatory of Music, the mall, and some other shops. Another side has Fenway Park, and the other is the projects.

Generally, Northeastern is in a "safe" area. Very few students are victims of serious crimes. Their is the typical slate of petty thefts (mostly bikes and laptops), but this is common at all city schools. What you see depends entirely on where you go. Not going to lie, the Columbus/Ruggles/International Village area can get fairly sketchy at night, but again these areas are heavily patrolled. Towards the other side of campus, you will see the incredibly expensive Gainsborough/Symphony/St. Stephens Neighborhoods, home of yuppies, beamers, and a constant street sweeping. The Boston skyline is visible from almost everywhere on campus, and many students refer to the Prudential Center Tower as their "north star", always guiding them home after a late night. Northeastern May not have the prettiest surroundings, but all students embrace it. it gives the school a rugged sense of character that some places are very much lacking.
