What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

My college experience has taught me a lot about the nature of humankind. I never had the opportunity to learn about world history or philosophy during my high school years due to the size of the rural town and lack of trained teachers. At OC, I have come to realize the deeper realities of language, both ancient and vernacular, and the ineffable worth of critical thinking skills. I have also discovered that my college experience has been valuable because it has taught me to seek and search into the depths of the academic disciplines. Believe it or not, the more you learn, the more you realize you don't know a thing. I have found that to be absolutely true. Those who delve into the finer details and mysteries of Scripture, science, and history will definitely agree with me. Essentially, I have learned that all of mankind takes knowledge on authority while still seeking for answers and explanations for the unknown. My experiences in college have taught me that some things are simply unknowable, and that is where faith must come in to play. I cannot tell you all about the universe, but I can tell you something about God.

I am currently a second semester sophomore, and I have yet to decide my major. Many people would feel I am wasting my money by attending a University without having a major declared to work toward. However, my experience at Oklahoma Christian has been incredible to me. I have been given the freedom to explore who I am and what exactly I believe, apart from my family's, old friends', and home church's beliefs. It is finally my time to make decisions for myself and to become, on my own, who I do or do not want to be. I have the freedom and opportunity to take chances, and a community to catch me if I fall. I am surrounded by a body of people who are all there to support me in whatever joys and challenges I face, all of whom have the same core belief as I do. This college experience has been so valuable to me because it has given me the opportunity to explore myself and mature into the faith-filled woman I long to be, instilling in me passion for life in general, no matter what I do or where I go in life.

When I was back in High school, i mostly studied because my parents were the ones sending me to school. I never really took it seriously as i should have, because after all it was my future. College has taught me to learn for myself, to plan ahead, to care about my life and value school for it is out of it that i will built up my career and achieve my dreams. Alot of the things i go through here in college has enhanced my social life and it has taight me how to live with people, how to help friends in need, and build up long lasting relationships that are surely going to be useful in my adult life. Having teachers to help us here and seeing how much thety are dedicated to their work, the way they push us when its all up to us; they made me realise how important my future is and i should be more responsible in all my acts.

My college experience served as the defining period in my life when I began to understand adulthood and how the "real world" works. I learned many ideas and principles in college that almost any person needs in order to be successful. Some ideas came from textbooks and class lectures, but the more beneficial lessons I learned were through the work and failures I experienced in school. Good things in life do not come without work, and there is always a reward for hard work, even if it's simply knowing that you did it. With every project I completed, class I passed, and semester I finished; I continued to build a foundation of work ethic and desire for achievement that has shaped the person I am today. I owe most of the accomplishments I've made as an adult to the life lessons I learned in college; I fully believe the lessons, knowledge, and wisdom I gained were well worth the time and money I invested to attend.

My personal sense of responsibility has increased greatly. My teachers want me to succeed, but they are not there constantly reminding me to always do my work. Instead, they teach me lessons that are slightly above where I am currently standing academically so that I keep learning. It has made me be more active in making decisions for my future concerning work and career choices. I have become a much more confident person in not only relating with my professors in a respectful but confident way, but also in how I relate to my classmates. I have become much more outgoing. I feel much more comfortable with where I am because the school gives me the feeling of knowing that I belong here. I have grown tremendously as a Christian because even outside of class, my faith is challenged in ways that make me stop and think about why I believe what I believe. I have learned so much academically and also in areas that concern my character as an individual that will help me maker wiser life decisions later in life.

When I graduated high school, everyone told me, “College is a time for change,” or “By the time you graduate you will be a completely different person!” At the time, I was 18 and knew everything there was to know, of course, so I disregarded their words. But, my time in college has done just that: changed me. Coming out of high school, I planned to go to a nearby school, because I had residency, and pick a safe major that I knew would have job security. One thing led to another and I ended up running on the cross country team at a local community college. No big deal. This turned out to be the most influential decision of my life. Through the team I learned what it meant to dream. To have aspirations above what you think you can do and fully committing to achieve them. Your mind is the most powerful tool in the world. I am now running out of state and have chosen a major that I want rather than one that is “safe.” My college experience has been valuable because it has taught me with enough hard work and belief I can achieve anything.

My college experience has been life changing for many reasons. Most importantly, I have become a more independant thinker. I was homeschooled because of how much my family had to move which made it difficult to see peers on a regular basis. College has been a wonderful experience of sharing time with peers. It has opened my eyes to the many worldviews others may have and helped me to become a more loving and accepting individual. I have had deep conversations over coffee and pondered some of life's toughest questions. Academically it is difficult, but as in all things, "what does not kill you makes you stronger". The teachers here really care about us students too! They challenge us because they want us to have passion for success and develop good work habits, but if we need help they are always available for consult.

I am very happy that I have been able to attend school at OC. I am surrounded by wonderful students and professors and they have taught me to love myself and God so much more than I ever have before. I have been accepted into an international exchange program with Ibaraki Christian in Japan and I can't wait to go this May! I get to teach people English, learn Japanese, and experience an amazing culture for seven months! I believe this and my future husband, my friends, teachers, and closeness to God are the reasons it has been, and will continue to be so amazing and valuable to attend Oklahoma Christian. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world. My life has been so changed by the people around me.... There's no telling where I would be without them and OC.

My experience at college has been great. I have met people willing to help me to achieve my educational goals. I have received support from faculty members, staff members, counselors, friends, and classmates. There are many workshops at school to help us as students to be well informed of the choices we have to transfer to a four-year university as well as to prepare our résumés in order to have a successful transition. I am the first generation member attending college and I have had a wonderful experience. I feel I have many people making sure I have a successful transition and I love that idea. I have joined two international honor societies; have several achievement awards, and the opportunity to receive leadership scholarships to represent the college I am currently attending in Orlando, Florida and San Diego, California. Therefore, I would say that my experience has been very valuable and rewarding.

During my college experience, I have met many different kinds of people with diverse backgrounds. Taking classes with them have given me various insights to other people's opinions. They make me think outside the box. I have learned a lot from differing opinions because they make me think outside of the box and bring up thoughts that I might not have thought of. I have also learned a lot will all the different kinds of classes that I have taken so far. My college experience has been valuable because I have had a diverse experience which can help me when I get my degree and have to work with diverse people that may have other values or opinions than me. I might be able to understand them better.

My college experience has been the best experience of my life. I've met a multitude of amazing people, become part of a new family, learned more than I thought possible, and had a life packed with laughter, smiles, and a complete enjoyment of the little things. I've learned to take care of myself, to live on my own, and to deal with my own problems, no parents necessary (even though they certainly are appreciated). I've been able to mature, grow, and change into more of the woman that I want to be, while still holding on to some of the better parts of childhood (like coloring books and Disney movies). I learned that you're never too old to watch Beauty and the Beast, but I also learned that Isaac Asimov, the famous author and biochemist, has an amazing ability to prove that right and wrong are relative. So far, my college career has been enlightening, it has been a blessing, and it has put a dent in my finances. Nevertheless, I would not have acquired such a stellar education or social experience anywhere else, and I can honestly say that I've found my second home.

Melanie

I have learned alot about myself and who I want to be. Coming from a upper middle class suberban town my world view was very limited. I realize that going to a small christian school my view still is not the best but i have learned so much about the people around me and how that has changed who I am and what I want to do with my life. Growing up I was very idealistic about wanting to change the world, and not that those ideas are not around any more but they are all just put into perspective and now more than ever I know that I want to make a lasting effect on the people around me. Going to school here has enabled me to be able to reach those goals that I had for myself growing up and also make some new ones.

I never thought I would change as much as I have these past few years I have been in college. I know it sounds cliche, but I have certainly become more independent and have learned very much about myself. From freshmen year until now my study time has probably increased by more than fifteen hours a week! I now understand the idea of "time management". You really have to sacrifice social life and learn to set time aside for your studies. I think education is something that you cannot put a price on, however at Oklahoma Christian University I have been blessed by a faculty that is geared towards the success of the students, especially in the area of biology. I know I can take the techniques and theory aspect of my studies to a higher degree of education and even use them in my future career. I am also thankful for all of the wonderful aqcuaintances and lifetime friends I have made here. Therefore, even though Okahoma Christian has a high tag price, I feel that it is well-worth it. I hope that anyone that has the amazing opportunity to attend college will not think twice!

Coming to college is scarey, but one of the things I have learned from my experience is to not be afraid to try new things. Almost all the freshmen coming on campus are just as nervous as you are. I had to really branch out and meet new people and try new things. If you go out and do new things you will most likely meet new people. It has really made my college experience enjoyable. OC does a wonderful job trying to get the freshmen involved and aquainted with each other. At the beginning of school they do their best to make sure we know a certain group of people well and from there you meet others through the smaller group of people. Everyone here is nice: the professors, other staff, and students are all friendly and helpful.

Before coming to Oklahoma Christian University, i was very wary on how the school would compare to past schools. I must say, this college has lived up to my expectations and has exceeded its reputation as a Christian school. There are two things that i have learned from my college since i have been here. The first thing i noticed upon arrival in Oklahoma was the immense kindness the staff here has for the students. I had a councellor personally pick me up at the airport, take me on a tour of the city, and show me around the school so i could get started. Every staff member after that answered every question and helped as best they could, all with smiles on their faces. I also have learned a lot about God as i continue to learn about my major, mathematics. Two things i have recieved from my college experience is knowledge on what kindness truly is and an appreciation for everything God has done in my life. Learning these valuable lessons will stick with me for my entire life and i can be kind and thank the Lord no matter what situation I am in.

I have recieved a prestine education so far and have gotten a full college experience with the twist that i am not surrounded by the temptation to try harmful substances. I have gained a new family that is in full support of whatever i set my mind to do and will help me in attaining my goals. Oklahoma Christian has become a home away from home.

So far in my first semester of college, I have had many great experience that make going to school a very valuable thing. First and foremost is the quality of education that I have recieved. The professors at my school are compassionate, and truely care about passing on all of there knowledge to you. They are available anytime for help, support, and further explanation. The second thing that has made college so valuable is all of the new friends that I have made. It is the people you meet and the relationships you make that make life worth while. At OC, I have already made great friends that will always be there for me and also will help me grow closer to God. The final experience that has made college so valuable is the opportunity that arises to help others. OC is always promoting different service projects and mission trip to do good things for other people. Attending school makes it so much easier to get involved and help people. The great commission of my faith is to go out and make disciples of Christ in all nations. OC makes this possible, and that is priceless.

Over the past few months, college has been an amazing experience. Within these first few months of college I have made many life long friends and professors. Even though somedays the cafeteria food is questionable college is one of the best descisions that I have made in my life. College is a requirement in order to succeed in life. To get a good job and maintain a family, college becomes one of the basic ingredients that are needed to bake a succesful future. College is a must for social and educational development.

My college experience has been a blast so far. Recently i have cut back on my hours at work so that i could take more classes in my field. I love biology and everything that rotates around the subject. My college experience in general has been very valuable to my increase in knowledge and understanding about the world. When i was a freshman in college i was so worried about my future, due to the fact that nothing interested me. After a long chat with my counselor i found out that i had an undying passion for biology. Through thick or thin i will pursue my degree in biology thanks to ivy tech community college. Before finding biology I was on the path to destruction and i just thank god and mr.blackson for giving me hope and a bright future through college.

My college experience wasn't anything I planned for, nor anything I expected. Everyday wasn't easy; Everyday wasn't hard. Sometimes I even thought I wasn't going to make it. The crazy thing is I can't imagine my life, and where it would be without college. Never in my life have I been more challenged then I have been at college. This "experience" challenged me to become a better, smarter, and ultimately stronger person. What I have gotten out of college could never be taken away from me. College also has a value. A great teacher once said, " I wan't you to have a valuable experienced education, not a valuable piece of paper. " The value to attend college is priceless, even with the price of tuition. It hasn't been picture perfect, but it has been exactly what I needed.

I have learnt a lot from my experience at Oklahoma Christian University. l have grown as a persone and as a christian . Today I want to share the same kindness that has been shown to me. My english and writting skills have improved and are a still getting better. I have gained confidence in my self as time goes by and I belive in myself more as I gain new skills. There is still some uncertinty about what God's plans are for my life but I believe OC is the right place to stir and gide me in the wright direction. I have learnt more than what my major has offered me. I am able to speack in public without fear of being judged, and express my self clearly and completely. Oklahoma Christian University has a good reputation for getting its pre-med majors well prepared for medical school. Therefore I am confident that with help of my proffesors by the end of my four year undergraduate program I will be prepared to go throught medical school and become a Doctor. Today there is no where else I would rather be than in college.

From attending Oklahoma Christian University (OCU), I learned that being disciplined is important. In oppose to high school, colleges requires students to be disciplined as students have more freedom. They have to decide what to do with their time. It is easy to get distracted and put off homework. OCU has showed me how to be disciplined with my free time. Time management is one of the biggest challenges for a lot of us, but I feel like my college prepared me to not procrastinate. The teachers would let us know what projects or tests are due in advance. They also gave us an approximate time we should spend to prepare for it. After being aware of the importance of time management, I was able to balance my time with studying, hanging out with friends, and athletics. Due to this, when many students are stressed with their finals, I can relax and be confident.

I have gotten a relationship closer to God, from being at Oklahoma Christian University. I have became more aware of how to live and how to live a great life with God. Attending this college is valuable because you learn how to overcome sin, and surpass it and maintain who you are as an individual with a love for people and God. Friendship, leadership and God, is ehat you will get through this process of atending, it is worth attending.

Sarah

I have made friends at Oklahoma Christian, and I have learned a lot about my major. I have been to many schools in the past (3 colleges alone), and I have never made any friends I keep in touch with. After just one semester at Oklahoma Christian, I have made several friends that I could imagine staying in touch with for the rest of my life. Next, I am a Theater Performance major. At my previous schools, I felt that I learned some about acting and how Theater works, but I never had a lot of personal experience. In my first semester at OC, I learned how to do several behind-the-scene jobs in theater, which gave me a much greater understanding of my career choice. Oklahoma Christian University is the perfect college for me. I have never felt so at home in another school, and if I could go back in time, I wouldn't change a thing. This is where God put me, and it's where I want to be.

Stephanie

As of spring 2011 I will have my associates degree, which no one can ever take away from me. I always have it and want to persue more education because knowledge is invaluable. I learn something in every class I take, even if it doesn't seem to pertain to my major, which makes going to school worth every second. I would never miss a class, because you never know what you aren't going to learn that day.

Kinsey

I believe that my decision to attend Oklahoma Christian University was, and still is, a very good decision. I feel very blessed to be a part of OC, not only because I know I'm getting a great education, but also because I have the to oportunity to grow spiritually. I've developed many friendships with fellow students, and I've gotten to know many of my teachers, as well as some of the campus faculty and staff. Going to school at OC is very vaulable to me. I and the first person in my immeidate family to attend college, so I have many expectations to uphold, not only to my family, but to myself as well. I know OC is the place for me to be right now, and I'm looking forward to all of the things that being a student at OC has to offer while attending school and even after graduating.

Joshua

The most valuable thing I have gotten out of my college experience would be a better understanding of the diversity that fills our world. During the years that I have been enrolled in college I have met people from all walks of life and from all around the world. I have come to realize that gaining a better understanding of the different people and places in the world is just as important as the information in text books.

Hannah

I have learned many things out of my college experience. One thing I've learned is how to live on my own without my parents. It is weird to not have to tell them where I am every second of the day. I have more freedom than I did while living at home. I've also learned how to manage my finances. Before I could rely on my parents to give me money, but now I have to make my own, and make smart decisions about how to spend it. College has been valuable to me because I enjoy the fact that I am earning a degree that will help me to earn a well-paying job that I can support my future family with. To me, college is more beneficial than high school. I work harder now because I'm actually paying for school, and because this education is for me. I'm going to college to get a degree to support myself, not because the state requires me to attend.

Tiaresha

I believe that attending college has been a great value to my life. I am a nursing major and I hope to finish soon so I can begin my career.

Lindsey

Attending O.C. is most valuable to me because it completely aligns itself to my beliefs and moral foundation. My college experience thus far has been amazing and has totally lived up to my expectation of what my first year of college would be. I have enjoyed the higher learning college affords me and am seeing the importance of the hard work in my high school career. I brought some college credit with me via cross enrollment in high school and in retrospect, that was one of the smartest choices I made both financially and academically. It is put me ahead of my class as far as credits to graduate and was no cost. I tell high school friends they truly need to take advantage of this opportunity if they are able. My college experience is something I will never forget. The late nights, cramming, meeting new friends and being independent are all part of it and I love every minute of it.

So far, I've got a deeper understanding of the life of christ through the book of Matthew. I have got a better feeling concerning college in itself that I can really do it and make it all the way through graduation. It's been valuable to me in that I know now that there is much more going on in the world around me than I could have ever imagined. I have been able to sharpen some of my academic skills as well as have a totally different learning experience to what I'm used to. It's been so valuable to me in that I was able to make the decision through prayer as to what field was best for me and now working toward a bachelor's degree in computer engineering to not have a job, but have a career. I heard someone say when I was younger, "If you are doing what you love, you'll never work a day in your life" and that's what I'm looking for when this is all over. Though attending Oklahoma Christian University is expensive , I love the fact that soon it will be all worth it.

Lindsey

I have enjoyed getting an education at a liberal arts school and recieving more than just the specific knowledge for my major. I am receiving a broader education. I also appreciate going to a private Christian school where I am affirmed in my beliefs and life choice and am supported by the faculty and staff. I attended a public high school and had many of my beliefs challenged daily which helped to shape who I am as a person, however, now I appreciate not having those same struggles while trying to focus on my degree. I have learned so much from my professors on this campus while also forming relationships with them through their support of my other school activities and our attendence as the same churches in the area. The student for the most part are very helpful and supportive of one another. I have made many friendships that I expect to last even after I graduate.

Jillian

What I have gotten out of my college experience? I have gotten above all a degree that will help me pursue my dreams and goals. I will now be able to get a good job in a design field and feel well equipped to do so. I have gained lifetime friends and even families from that area that I now call my own. I have also gotten a sense of myself there and have gained independence from my own family. I have grown in so many ways since I went to school thousands of miles away from home. It hasn't allowed me to go home on a whim but instead deal with my own problems and challenges that I have immensely grown from. I have gained so much from my college experience that 200 words are unable to tell you. But this paragraph basically sums it up and I am looking forward to what the future holds for me and what jobs I will get because I was able to get a college degree. Thank you so much for your time.

April

College experience has been anything but your typical movie for me. I started when I was 17 years old. I also had my son the same year. It's valuable to me because it gives me the life skills that I need to move into the world as a mom and as a person with a higher education.

Francis

It is amazing to me that I have learned so much after just only one semester completed at a community college. Although going to a community college was not a part of my original plan, I have learned many things that not only pertain to education, but to life itself. I was forced to become more independent since I did not live with my parents anymore. I had to make decisions that were otherwise taken for granted during my life before college and also undergo a type of education that was not academically related. These types of educations, or 'life lessons', ranged from many things such as choosing the right type of food to eat, to maintaining my car, to even deciding when to do my own laundry. The numerous amount of responsibilities that I depended on my parents on were laid on my shoulders and became 'mine'. I believe college should not only be seen as a source of education, but as a means of actually 'growing up' and molding oneself into the person they will be for the rest of their lives. How one chooses to 'mold' his/her self in college however determines their future's success.

As an international student coming alone all the way to America, a brand new culture means a lot. Being here alone means i have no one to turn to when i am in trouble. I have to face the problem and work it out all by myself no matter how difficult it is. It's almost about forcing me to grow up and being independence. I was crying for the first new year night but no not anymore. what's more, being at home, having everything ready for you, it's too enjoyable and i never thought about helping others. Things are different here, being in the college is like entering a small society. i went to a mission trip to Tuba City, Arizona two years in a row, i learned so much that i know there are so many people out there need help. I am ready to prepared myself in college to help others in the future. My college experience is a life-changing experience for me. I had grown up so much and i believe all my friends can see it and i am so thankful for God by bringing me here.

Becca

College is a completely different beast comapared to high school. During this first semester, I have been stressed out, had late, late night study sessions, and have almost given up. But I wouldn't change it for the world. College has given me the strength to see past the present and look towards to future. Just from the classes I have taken, I can see what I will become in the next couple of years. By coming to college I have gained not only knowledge but also the ability to study and ask questions. Most people are excited about breaks in school, but I find that being here at school is so much more important than free time. Learning is everywhere but here at college it embodies learning through expiriences and classes. I know college has shaped my life and I hope to continue my education to reach my future goals.

Kyle

In the past few months here at Oklahoma Christian I have grown so much in God, and in myself. I left home expecting to fail, and fall flat on my face, but the students and staff have helped me so much that it was literally impossible for me to fail, and now I'm doing better than i ever could've imagined.

Steven

I have been blessed to receive a good Christian education and a network of friends and possible colleagues on campus. I am also a member of the American Marketing Association chapter here on campus. We try to help students get a good, solid Christian network of business men and women to help further their future careers. This network has also blessed me with an internship with the Oklahoma City Thunder. I have learned at this school that it is possible to be able to use good Christian ethics within the work place and the real world. If I didn't come to Oklahoma Christian I wouldn't have been able to be the person I am today.

Hope

My college experience has been everything I hoped it would be and then some, as I have been able to continue to grow toward being an independent butterfly, but everyone back home told me I wouldn't make it. Many said I would come back crying. No one thought I could do it, as I would be so far from home. "The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do." -Walter Bagehot. I have showed them. College has been a new experience, but I have been ready to take it on. The very first week I made friends and met all my teachers, I knew I was at the right place. The value of being able to attend is very important to my plan of being able to fulfill my becoming a nurse. My mother lost her job this past summer and since she never finished college, finding a new job has been difficult. I am watching in real time, what happens if you do not have a college degree. My brother is in his seventh year of college, but watching his mistakes has me focused to do this right. So far, I am on target!

Alison

When I started college several years ago, Oklahoma Christian was probably not what I was looking for in a university. Infact, I started my education at Oklahoma Christian my freshman year, and after a year at OC, I decided to switch schools because I disliked it so much. After transferring to the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City Community College back in forth for the next few years, and dropping out all together, I returned to where my education began; at Oklahoma Christian. I did not realize how great OC was until I left it! College is so important in our society; I did not realize that it is extremely difficult to get a good job that you can surive on without a college degree. Out of my college experience, I have gained social skills, knowledge, and lifelong friends that I never would have had without attending my university. The value of education is beyond priceless; and now that I know how detrimental a degree is to getting a great career I have decided to major in education. I want to be able to help students grow and devlop into great citizens of our country. College is important to me.

Jessica

Being my second year at OC, I have learned how helpful the teachers are and got a good idea on what my life goal is. It has been valuable to attend because of everything I have learned so far through my general education classes, previous Art major classes, and current Psychology classes. My favorite part of attending OC so far is gaining my life-long friends.

Hannah

Since starting college this year I have learned to enjoy the little things in life. Since starting college a little over a month ago, I have had very little free time or time for 'fun.' Because of all the studying, working, classes and school activities, I have learned to enjoy the small things, the 'sprinkles on the ice cream'-- both figureatively and literally (yum!) A cup of hot tea while studying at 1 a.m. is a joy; grocery trips with friends are a rare treat. Cafeteria ice cream with sprinkles on top-- a daily pick-me-up. College business has shown me to enjoy the few, simple pleasures that go along with the hustle and bustle of life. I have learned to enjoy the 'sprinkles' of life in the little time I have-- even the small amount of free time to fill out this application!

Heather

My college experiance has shown me that I can succeed at school. The opportunity to attend college is invaluable to me as I am the first in my family to attend any college. I have found that the challenge of the courses I take at my college drive me to succeed and inspire me to do the best I can at everything. The major I plan to pursue in college is Elementary and Special Education. My college professors have inspired me to be the best teacher I can possibly be as they are prime examples of what a good teacher is. Attending college has shown me that school does not have to be something to fear or hate, but something to love and inspire. With a college degree, you go anywhere and learn everything. The best part is when you are done with one degree, you can come back for another.

Amanda

My experience at Oklahoma Christian University was not what I expected; it was better. I had not anticipated the wonderful Christian atmosphere or the close relationships that I have made. The academics department is continuouesly willing to help me if I have any questions whatsoever. All my professors have been phenomenal in their lectures and presentations, and continue to help me want to achieve my best goals. I believe this University has in fact inspired my aspiration to become a future educator in elementary schools. I have a job on campus that allows me to meet inspiring Christian leaders throughout the campus, and allows me to be active within the Oklahoma Christian community. Throughout my years I plan on devoting as much time as I can to become the best leader I can be, and I believe that comes from the university that I attend. I cannot imagine ever wanting to go anywhere else to become the person I intend to be.

I originally attended another University before transferring to Oklahoma Christian University and form Oklahoma Christian University has been a drastic experience from the previous. The university showed promise in competing with other Universities as well as teaching morals and the importance of faith, and how to stay strong for it. The experience of the University has been more than what I hoped for. The classes pushed me to levels that I had not been pushed before and I struggled, but the encouragement that was shown kept me going. From the classroom I gained confidence and assurance of what I had learned and applying it. Outside the classroom I valued the encouragement of others in keeping the faith and staying focused in the classroom. From all in all I cherish and respect the fellow students that attended the university who are willing and not afraid to talk about their faith. Whom can teach as well, as showing how one should behave. Oklahoma Christian University offered promises but I have found a true family and fellowship from them.

I deserve to win this scholarship because I am a wonderful, hardworking person and I want to change my life for the better. I have lived my life doing things for other people, and now I have decided it is time to do something for myself. I am 29 years old and am currently living with my mother and she can’t pay everything for me. I feel like such a disappointment to myself and her. I want to attend college so that I am able to get a good job, and one day be able to provide my family with a good life. I do not want to have to rely on help from my mother. The only way I will be able to do this is with a good education. However, I am not financially able to pay for college. This scholarship would tremendously help me to reach my goal.

I have received so much more out of my college experience than I ever imagined possible. Everyone says that the college years are the best years and I most certainly agree so far. Last year was my first year to attend Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma. I have not regretted my decision ever. Oklahoma Christian is a place to grow in faith and in relationships. The staff and faculty at Oklahoma Christian truly care for every student and it is made apparent by their willingness to pray for their students and help them whenever the students need it. One of my favorite things about O.C. is the atmostphere. The campus is so comfy and there are constantly fun activities happening. The student body is one of the closest-knit schools I have ever seen because of the small size and the common bond in Christ Jesus. The techonology at O.C. is also wonderful. Every student is provided with a mac book and either an iphone or an itouch. Having these tools makes it easy to communicate with professors and classmates, Above all, O.C. is a place to seek God and come into a relationship with Him.

The most important thing I have received from my college experience is adulthood. I feel like I have grown so much in the two years I have attended Oklahoma Christian. The professors and college atmosphere greatly push students to become mature and to take on personal responsibility. For example, I have learned how to speak in front of groups of people, and I have learned how to talk to my professors and counselors instead of my parents talking to them for me. I have also learned to manage my time between my social life and studying. In high school, my parents would push me every night to study. However, now I actually want to take the time to study because I know that my future is in my hands now. My college experience has been very valuable to me because I know I have matured into the adult I wanted to become. I am proud of the values, strive for success, and education that I have gotten out of attending Oklahoma Christian.

It's been a wonderful experience. The faculty and staff are fantastic; they facilitate the learning experience. The environment is conducive to learning and I am able to combine learning with service to community. This educational experience has meant everything to me. After graduation I will be an active alumni, spreading the word "Oklahoma Christian University is # 1.
