What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Jay

1. Only for Engineering 2. Girl ratio sucks 3. Really tough 4. middle of nowhere

Amy

RPI students are stereotypically white male engineers lacking in social skills. All of them stereotypically belong to a fraternity or play World of Warcraft so much, they never leave their room. RPI is not for those who can't handle being surrounded by nerds. The most heated debate on campus is which operating system is the best.

Jamie

All RPI students are dorky engineers or obnoxious Greeks, the male:female ratio allows women to act like bitches (RIBS - ratio induced bitch syndrome)

Alynna

Geeky, unsociable, never leave their rooms

Michele

There are many stereotypes that students are nerdy, anti-social, aloof gamers and that at RPI there is no social life or scene, unless you're in a fraternity or sorority, yet even that is considered limited interaction. Ideas that RPI is all work and no play and that students get no time to socialize circulate as well.

Blake

They are geeky and play video games all the time. Girls develop ratio induced bitch syndrome. Architecture students are overachievers. The Asian TAs don't speak very good English. All guys are greek.

Terry

Pale, Male, Nerdy, sits on computer and plays video games

Reese

The typical stereotype about RPI and its students is about the ratio of males to females - RPI used to be an all-male school. In addition to that, there are stereotypes about the type of guys who go here - nerds, gamers, science geeks. Most people see RPI as being full of only science and engineering students.

Paul

The main stereotype about RPI is that the school is full of geeks and nerds. RPI has a great reputation for acquiring the smartest and brightest students to take part in their engineering and other offered majors. Along with that people think nobody knows how to interact with other people thinking that they'd rather spend time with books over people.

Jeff

The main stereotypes about RPI and RPI students are that there are no girls on campus, that all of the TAs speak foreign languages, and that all the students are nerdy "computer geeks".

Jason

That we're all geeky. As if that's bad! Geeks can be cool too!

Adam

The stereotype is geeky, computer playing, nonsocial engineers that cannot talk to females.

Sandra

that we are really nerdy and dont interact with each other that there are no girls here (or practically none) that the weather sucks that there is nothing to do unless you go to Albany that we don't party

Jessica

Most of the people are very nerdy.

Andrea

Some stereotypes I've noticed is that RPI students are all geeks, nerds, and the like. The guys all play video games and RPGs, and the girls are all bitches 'cause of RIBS: Ratio Induced Bitch Syndrome. The students here all have insane knowledge of technology and the workings of computers, they all wear thick glasses and can't make causal conversation.

Kendall

There's nothing to do, everyone plays games and is really smart.

joe

The compsci kids smell, there are no girls here, the archies stay up all night, get no sleep, and then spend the rest of their time partying. A lot of people can be stereotyped by their Frat or sorority.

Lane

The most common stereotype is that a typical RPI student does not want to socialize with other people- that is, not in the conventional way. And mostly not at all. The RPI stereotype is a white male virgin, who is talented but scatterbrained, and avoids other people lest they discover these things about him. Four other stereotypes include the hard-working Archie major, the idiotic Management major and the "Easy-Mac" lazy EMAC major.

cody

Nerds. Nerds, nerds, nerds. And the women are all manipulative bitches.

Ryan

1) RPI students are way too competitive. 2) RPI does not have that much school spirit. 3) The girls at RPI can tend to act really obnoxious 4) The school is run by the select few.

Nicole

That the school is full of nerds, most guys don't know how to act around women, the women at the school aren't all that hot

andromeda

Stereotypes about RPI students are that they are nerdy and socially inept. Also, that there are no girls on campus and the girls here are unattractive.

Parker

Nerds. And if you're not a nerd you get drunk all the time.

Alex

That we are all a bunch of socially awkward nerds.

Dawson

Stereotypes about RPI That it is a place for MIT and CMU rejects Stereotypes about RPI Students That they are all nerds who sit in their rooms and play World of Warcraft all day. That all the girls are bitches because of the ratio. People are very apathetic and are very introverted That the whole school is filled with nerds

Erik

That they're no fun and not interested in socializing

Meggles

That we are a bunch of nerds. This is not far from the truth, however, we are a bunch of nerds that may love computers and technology, but we love having a good time too. The other sterotype is that we work all the time, that is also kind of a misconception. Some classes require a lot of work while others require a very little. As long as you don't slack off classes are a breeze.

Mike

There are no girls! Everyone's a nerd!

Charlie

Since RPI is a typical engineering school and 70{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} male, there are the sterotypes similar to that of Revenge of the Nerds. Typical dorky science boys with no game.

Adrian

Everyone's nerds, noone likes to go out and have a good time, all are overachievers, the school is ridiculously tough, the list goes on and on.

Rob

That they are all nerdy and live on their laptops. That they can not spell or write essays.

Chris

According to most, the typical RPI student is a socially awkward guy who plays video games all of the time and rarely sees the light of day. The few of us that aren’t male are said to suffer from RIBS (Ratio Induced Bitch Syndrome), where girls can act as bitchy as they want because there will always be 20 guys hanging off of them.

Annabelle

White and nerdy males with a few white a nerdy females mixed in

Laura

We're all engineers. We're geeks. We have no social lives/All we do is play RPGs on our computers and do homework.
