Those desiring a mid-size university with a small town feel should attend Salisbury University. The size of the student body gives you an opportunity to meet someone new everyday. This is extraordinary considering the area in which the university is located. Having lived on the Eastern Shore my entire life; I can assure you that for the most part it is pretty boring. The area surrounding Salisbury University differs from most of the Eastern Shore in that it mixes the enviroment of a big city with that of a small town. This helps new students learn the area quickly.
Salisbury is a very involved school with much diversity. A person who wants to attend Salisbury should like a smaller school, but understand that it is growing quickly. Friendly, outgoing people go to Salisbury. People who you dont even know will say hello and make you feel comfortable in the class, club or social outting that you are at. This student should want to learn and enjoys working in groups and with other people on projects in the classroom and outside the classroom. All aroun a outgoing, friendly person should go to Salisbury.
The majority of students at this school are white, but we have many exchange students from all around the world. If you love the beach on the weekends you would love salisbury, we are 30 minutes away from Ocean City. It does not snow much here, rains a bit though. The lecture classes are under 40 students usually, except for science classes, usually 100. The parking is terrible, but they plan to build a parking garage in a few years. The campus is easily mapped, and is flat with beautiful gardens and sitting areas.
The kind of person you would expect to attend SU would be fun, energetic, and would have a genuine interest in the world around them in all aspects. They would know how to buckle down with their studies to get work done, but they would also know how to go out and have a really good time no matter what they were doing. They would be mostly liberal and someone who enjoyed the beach and the lifestyle that goes along with it as it's only 30 minutes away. They'd be interested in life. Period.
Any who student who enjoys the personalized classes that a small university has to offer should attend Salisbury University. Class sizes are small enough where the student can really know who their teacher is and vice-versa. This can allow the student to take in much more information during each lecture and reduces the time(in most cases) that the student must learn new material on their own. That being said, I believe students who learn better in the classroom should attend this university.
