Regardless of where you attend parties will be present, don't be afraid any college will have a lack of people to meet and things to do. Believe it or not, everything your parents said about money being scarce is true., so scholarships and the ability to find a job are very important. Big schools can be a lot of fun, but the smaller the campus the better chance you have of feeling in a close and caring community. The next four years are what you make of it, you will spend this time shaping yourself into the person that will enter the real world.

Pay attention to the kinds of students you see and try to pick out a group of people you could see yourself hanging out with. College is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Be sure to socialize and make as many connections as you can, but don't forget to focus on your academics! Do you want a school where you can focus on school as well as extra curricular activies? As long as you can answer these types of questions you should be able to find the college for you. When going into the college search, it's beneficial to know two things: what you want to do after graduation and who you want to be. Once you find the right college and want to have the best experience, know yourself and embrace it, the rest will fall into place.

Over night experienes probably give a prospective student the most amount of information about the campus. Look at as many schools as possible and go to a state school if they have your major!!

I would advise parents and students to visit every school and ask the students who go there lots of questions about what they feel is the most important part of college. I would also stick with one activity to partake in at school and make sure they have a sufficient enough program to have fun and enjoy through the four years or however many years of attendance.

put yourself out there, and make the best of the situation you are in. If you do not go out and try to make friends, they will not just arrive on your doorstep. Lastly, do not live in the past. Home will always be there for you, but don't pine over it.

The advice I would give to parents in helping your child find the right college for them is to allow them to choose the place that makes them happy. A place where they set foot on a campus and fall in love. There will never be another time in their life where they can focus on improving themselves and gaining an education. As a student already in college I am so thankful that this was my parents' additude toward choosing a school. Finallty support your child no matter what they choose, that means more than anything else. The advice I would give to students is that there are two types of people in this world, those who enter a room and say "There you are" or "Here I am". When going to college you need to put yourself out there. This took me a while to figure out, since I have I've never been happier. Going home every weekend or complaining about what you dislike about your school will literally get you no where. The experience you have in college is based on the effort you put into it. So make the most of it and never look back!

Look at everything, because you never really know what you want until you visit the campuses. Keep an open mind and be realistic.

Visit before you choose, go there because you love it not just for a sport or the like

The first thing I would say is to do a lot of research. It is important to reserach all types of colleges. I originally wanted to go to school in the city but when i came to the town of Newport by the ocean I fell in love with it. It was completely different than anything I ever wanted and I am more happy than I could have ever imagined. It is important to know what you are looking for. Do you have a major in mind? If not find a place with many to choose from. What type of area? Do you want to study abroad? If so find schools with great study abroad programs; best experience of your life! Look online and on websites of what the school looks like and what students from that school say about it. These are all helpful but the most important thing is to visit the schools. Try to visit as many schools similiar or different fom what you think youwant. By visiting you can get a sense of feeling if you can see yourself on this campus or not. This is what happened to me and I am very happy!

I would advise parents and students looking for the right college by stressing the importance of comfort over the college's name. When I first started at Salve Regina University, I didn?t feel accomplished being there because the name is not famous. However, I realized that if I had attended a college for its name alone, I would have been making a very superficial decision. Salve Regina was my first choice because of the size or the campus, the small student per professor ratio, the beauty of the campus and the overall friendliness of the campus body and the town. My advise to pre-college students is to find a place that you would be comfortable sleeping the first night: a place that fits you, rather than forcing yourself to fit the university?s mold.

Don't be afraid to try new things. College is all about learning and growing as a person, so don't rule anything out. Choosing a school is hard, but just remember to choose a place where you feel comfortable being yourself, and don't go too far from home.

My advice would be to visit the school several times beforehand if possible and talk to the students that attend it. Also, attend a school that consists of people like you that do things that you like to do where you can fit in. Also think about class size, dorms, food, and the area surrounding the campus for activities and working. If you do not like where you are after the first year, transfer to another school that you think you will be happy at. The most important thing about liking where you are is the friends you make, so make sure that the people you chose to be around are a good choice and they don't bring you down or act as a bad influence.

If I was to advise a student how to get the most out of their experience, I would recommend getting involved in every possible club your schedule permits because these clubs are where you make the best friends and have the greatest experiences. I had very little involvment my first two years at school, and must say I was miserable. My college experience has taken a 180 degree turn because now I am having an amazing time. I joined two clubs this year and met the friendliest people who enjoy similar activites and have many of the same interests I do. It is a much more enjoyable experience when one can find people who would rather go to the New York Stock Exchange on their Friday for a field trip than prepare for a night of binge drinking. Life is too short, so get out and make memories because these years go by so quickly- and I'm not talking about using a camera and facebook to piece together the night before. Take the white water rafting trip or ski trip, join the university radio station, play a varsity sport, do activites that will make you smile years to come.

Finding a college that best fits the student and has the best program for their intended major. Also keep in mind the costs of tuition as well as books.

Take a look at everything the school has to offer: Studying Abroad, Sports, Academics, Arts, Area, and most importantly the kind of people who go there.

I would suggest to prospective students to not only visit campuses that interest them several times but to see if the school offers overnight visits and to make use of them. You can only get a true inside scoop from students themselves and not paid tour guides. In visiting you need to ask the personal questions: what have you personally experienced when it comes to ... After picking a school it is most important to get involved. Join a club or do the activities on campus. Most students have at least one bad year at school so it is important to stick with the desicion and know things will get better. The best advice I could give is to make friends and take every opportunity given to you so not only succeed acedmically but socially as well.

Advice that I would give to any student looking at colleges would be to look for a school that will give you a future and that will give you an amazing four years. Students learn as much outside of the classroom as they do inside. At any school that a student may choose, they will see problems in that school and will second-guess their decision. However, if they choose the school that will teach them the most, they will come out of the experience a better, stronger person. Orientation and tour leaders tend to tell students to pick the school where they can see themselves living. This is a great way to see if the student will feel comfortable there, and is the reason that I chose my school. Money generally plays a huge factor, so compare schools to each other equally and take into consideration the quality of education that the student will be receiving for a certain amount of money. All in all, I would tell parents and students to take every aspect of the school into consideration, and to choose the school that feels most comfortable to the student.

Some schools have larger classes while others have smaller classes; it is important to find the right fit in order to recieve a successful education. Look for a school that offers activities where the student can get involved and develop friendships to feel part of the community.
