Temple University Top Questions

When you step off campus what do you see?

Briannon

When you step off campus, you see a beautiful view of the Philadelphia skyline to the south. Temple University is in North Philadelphia, which means that students may also see low-income areas that appear to be rundown, but the city is steadily cleaning up the neighborhoods and making them more livable for Philadelphians.

When you step off campus you are right in the middle of North Philly, so you are in the hood. There's no other or better way to put it. There are some students that do not feel safe going off campus, but I don't have a problem going off campus. You will encounter alot of homeless people when you step off campus too. On the bright side, It's only a ten minute bike ride to Center City too which is a lot nicer. But honestly even though we are in a poorer community I don't think you should feel afraid. Many of the local residents are actually very nice.

Unfortunately the neighborhood surrounding Temple is not the nicest but if you go far enough off campus (center city, mannayunk, south philly) there are tons of exciting and beautiful things to see, all of these are easily accessible as well.

Not the prettiest surroundings, but Center City is just a subway ride away and it is like a smaller NYC, but cleaner!
