While I love my school and feel at home there, I do think that it is not ideal for some students. The campus has about 50,000 students milling around it and this environment is not comfortable for many people. Those who prefer to know everyone in their graduating class, for instance, would not appreciate the vastness of UT Austin. Moreover, students who are easily distracted would not flourish on this campus because there are countless activities going on at all times on campus.

This University spends a lot of time with every class of new students to make sure that they are willing to accept other people regardless of their race, ethinicity, and financial background so the diversity and friendship level amongst the student body is high. There isn't anybody who "shouldn't" attend this school. The University of Texas at Austin is so large and diverse that any prospective student is bound to find another individual who will share many of the same interests or opinions that he holds. If you are not able to find other people who you feel comfortable with, there are many advisors and counselors who are available to help you adjust to the university.

Cheri

If you're the kind of person that doesn't have very good time management or likes to party harder than work then this isn't the school for you.

Adam

Someone who is not outgoing and overwhelmed by large groups of diverse people. They cannot expect for friends to come to them. They must go out and make them on their own. Also, if someone is looking for small classes and one-on-one, specialized attention from professors, this school is not the place to go...at least until they are upperclassmen.

Leslie

A person who is unable to adapt and adjust to the rigorous academic atmosphere should not attend UT Austin. Also, someone who is too dependent and irresponsible would not function well at this school. One must be able to make their own decisions.

There is no right kind of person in my opinion. I feel that this school is big enough to give people the chance to be anything they want to be, and try out new ideas and fads to really find the real them.

Summer

A person who likes a quiet and small atmosphere.

Sam

A person who does not like to explore, and be opened up to new types of people, thinking, and culture. This enviornment is progressive and fast paced so, the unfoccused person can get caught up in a multitude of other things that are not beneficial to there classroom studies. UT Austin is an experience unlike any other I can conceive, you have to be smart in so many aspects both socially and in the classroom, this school really prepares you for the world. If you want a sheltered atmosphere this may not be it.

Samantha

Someone who can not accept others. There are people for every backgorund at UT and if you want everyone to be of your own thinking and background, go somewhere else.

Erica

Anyone can attend this school. It is so diverse that no matter what type of person someone is, they will find similar personalities at UT. At UT, it is easy for anyone to make friends as long as the person is willing to make friends. People just don't say "Keep Austin Weird" just because. Austin is the place where any type of personality is socially accepted.

Jared

The Univeristy of Texas is perfect for students that want access to really big toys for hands on learning.

The University of Texas at Austin is a very large campus that is focused on diversity and open-mindedness. I would not recommend UT to someone who is not willing to keep an open mind or who is not willing to adjust to a different environment that may be, at first, very different from previous experience.

Amy

The one type of person that I always say should not attend this school is one that needs to have their hand held throughout their first year of college. I was fine with large lecture classes. If you foresee a hard adjustement to rigorous academics of college life, do not go to a large public school.
