The University of Texas at Dallas Top Questions

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Alex

The best thing about UT Dallas is the level of teaching. The professors do all they can to help students learn the subject matter. They are always willing to help students and sometime they help outside their field of study. At UTD will will see an Accounting professor helping students with non Accounting problems. There is a high level of teacher and student relationship. Also the Advisors are great. they help students make better plans toward their degree.

UTD is becoming a really great university. It's under quite a lot of construction right now, but it is going to become a better campus.

Carson

I think people should be mindful that UT Dallas is still a young school, and there are great progress being made in terms of increased incoming freshmen and the physical aspect of campus. Just from personal experiences alone, I would say UTD has grown considerably in the last four years.

Cameron

UT Dallas is a great place to get an education. Most of the teachers I have had are both engaging and taught me a lot. When I tell people that I go to UT Dallas, they usually have heard of it as being a good school to go to. One area that is lacking is school spirit, but this could be because many people are commuters and thus do not have a lot of time to participate in school events.

Brittany

When I first decided to go to UT Dallas I had the misconceptions that most people have about this university. I was only going to go to the University for a year and then transfer because I did not consider it a vibrant University full of campus life. However, only after a semester did my whole perception of UT Dallas change. I love the school now and couldn't think of a better place to carry out my education. The campus allows an environment where I can have the best of both worlds: I can enjoy some quiet/study time in my apartment or I can go out and enjoy campus life. The apartments allow a great way to have privacy while still enjoying the great aspects of having a roommate.

Justin

The size of the school is just right. It is perfect for the people wanting a big campus feel but also inviting to those that want a smaller student body in order to make connections. The standards set forth for the education are difficult but manageable. They are currently striving to hit the tier one mark and in doing so have placed the current standards higher. This is good for all students past, present and future because you get a better education and the school receives a better reputation.

Joshua

The teachers are pretty good. They generally do care. You will find one here and there that sucks, but for the most part they are very helpful. The students are quite intelligent as well.

Jessie

it think the school is just right, great school of management, great professors, great environment that full of opportunity and great students.

Mel

An young university with a view to be the best. Located in the DFW area, one of the fastest growing areas in US. Just the right size with all amenities and a scope to excel. School of management and its cohort program in particular are the best one can get in the area.

Elizabeth

UTD is a school where most of the students are commuters, although that is changing rapidly with the addition of dorms. We used to have a very disjointed student body, but as we grow we are becoming much closer. There are so many student organizations to chose from, if you can name it, we probably have it. It is also really great that UTD takes academics so seriously because that means when I graduate, my degree with be worth more.

Owen

The best thing about UTD is how well the administration takes care of its students. UTD is a good size where you don't see the same people every single day, but small enough that each student can receive personalized help from either their advisors, their professors, and a large amount of other resources the university offers.

Sandy

Natural Diversity.. that is the best thing about UTD. With comprehensive curriculum, natural diversity, variety of programs, lots of scholarships, various extracurricular opportunities..UTD is one of the best universities in Texas. UTD has best courses in supply chain management. UTD is not only SMART in studies but also it is athletic. UT Dallas became part of the American Southwest Conference — an NCAA Division III conference — in fall 1998. In just over 10 years, the intercollegiate athletics program has excelled, most recently reaching the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Division III men’s basketball tournament in March 2009. Other sports offered in the program include baseball, softball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

As a 70-year old retired manager returning to graduate school to update my academic credentials, I was somewhat apprehensive about how I would be received by my new classmates. As it turned out, it was needless worry. They have accepted me as a peer, and I am now just one of the class.

Alex

The school is a wonderful place to meet like minded people. The professors have 1-0-1 meetings with a lot of face time which is greatly appreciated. UTD administration is so transparent to the students who are actively involved in knowing more about the school and its policies and future. The one major (A Very Good) problem UTD students are facing currently is large classes that is majorly because of great professors and best colleagues one could ever ask for in an academic environment.

UTD has the best professors. Most of them really care if you learn, and the university has put in free labs to assist students in hard subjects such as math and science. I have gone to 3 colleges and this is by far the best. When you tell people you went to UTD, they know you worked hard and you are serious person. Learning is the main objective of the students, along and the administration takes you seriously. Professor evaluations from students mean something there! The business community supports the school with large donations for new labs and library facilities. Dallas is not a "college town", Dallas is a business town, there is a lot of fun here, however if you want to just play and get drunk, the schools here are not for you. The students that go to UTD want high paying jobs when the graduate, they want the means to have fun for the rest of their life, not just 4 or 5 years of it : )
