Making the most out of college and life is all about time management. I would advise parents and students to start the college application process early. With a head start, both parties can tour a variety of campuses and learn what factors are important to them in a school such as campus size, diversity, majors offered, class size, housing options and location. Once enrolled, get involved on your campus. Most schools offer hundreds of different clubs and organizations. Actually go to the events your resident assistant offers or the new student programs. Take the time to get to know students in your classes and neighboring dorms if possible. Finally, managing your academic time is a must. Even if you had to schedule your time before, college may be a great time to begin organizing your day. Set aside days or hours that will be study-related. This leaves you less stressed, prepared, and with more time to be with friends.
