When you step off campus what do you see?

Chelsea

The distinct part of UCSB is the connection between the campus and the surrounding communities of Isla Vista (technically in the town of Goleta). If you step off campus, you will either drown because you'll be in the ocean, or you'll be surrounded by UCSB and SBCC students in the community of Isla Vista. IV resembles the quintessential college beach town, complete with a 24-hour burrito joint called Freebirds, that the area just wouldn't be right without. Over the past year or so I've studied at UCSB, I've only ever seen about four families in IV total. There are literally students everywhere, all the time. But besides just students, IV is filled with quaint food stops and stores. There's at least 4 coffee shops within a block, and really everything centers on Pardall Rd, a straight shot through IV all the way onto campus.
