Students here are laid-back, smart and easy to get along with, though some can be lazy and unmotivated to do a little more work when it comes to classes.

William

They are here to learn.

My classmates are unique and come in a wide variety from mostly outside the state of Colorado with moderate intentions to do well in school, some are slackers, others acheivers, the majority enjoy snow/mountain sports and partying although we all have to be focused on our studies.

Thomas

Mostly socially awkward liberal hippies with abstract views on everything in life.

Amanda

There are a wide variety of different types of people, however it is a very affluent school with a great deal of emphasis on the greek system. Again we are most often refered to as rich hippies. I however do not fall into this category and often struggle financially and am not in a sorortiy.

Most of them consider themselves to be enlightened free thinkers--meaning that they are extremely liberal and see that as the only way. Most of the time they are nice and friendly, everyone ranges in the dedication to the class. SOme are very into it others just sit in the back and try to wing it. Everyone varies.

Cassandra

The students here are laid back, but career and academically driven.

Michael

There is a large mixture of those who are intelligent and driven and those who are lazy and unwilling to work in the same space.

Hylke

I am not impressed with the intellectual capabilities of my classmates, they seem to be more focused on having a good time than preparing for the real world.

Brenna

They're usually very friendly, but *sometimes* you have to talk first.

andrew

varied. don't usually socialize with them.

Zohal

very outgoing and interesting, everyone has their own neat style.

Ryan

Freshman year I lived on the "culturally diverse" floor. I sincerely think it housed every freshman minority student that wasn't an athlete. Racism is a very real and present problem on campus and in Boulder. I will give the administration credit at trying its best to create groups and panels to help solve the problem, but the reality is - the problem exists. Many of my friends from the dorm decided to transfer to other schools because of race-related issues. Boulder is a very liberal and progressive town but you can't forget it is stuck in the center of the mid-west.

Andrew

Boulder is not a terribly diverse school. Most of the students are upper middle class, white, and pseudo liberal. There's not much of a political discussion to be had, and most of the racial diversity seems concentrated in our Ethnic Studies department. The professors are equally as white, and while many would claim a left-leaning status, it's not exactly a well-considered label. If you're not a fairly well-to-do student, I would say you definitely feel your economic status pretty sharply.

Leah

Outragously diverse in interestes and what they do and who they are.

Stefanie

They chose CU Boulder for a variety of reasons (e.g. mountains, athletics, academics).

Alec

People are interested in partying and snowboarding.

Jenna

My classmates are friendly, outgoing and except me for who i am.

Devin

My classmates are so helpful and friendly that they pushed me and made it possible for me to complete my classes.

Dawn

Im my experience Boulder is very open to all people. There are your certain groups for sure but nothing you didn't see in High school.

Julie

It being Colorado, there are very few African-Americans, Indians, or other ethnicities. However, this does not mean that there is any racism on campus, I have never encountered any hostility that was serious in any way. Though many of CU students come from affluent families, one doesn't feel out of place if they do not come from wealthier families.

Devin

I really haven't been involved in that many school clubs because I work full time while im in school and just wouldn't have the time. Wish I could though.

Suze

we rock, thats all there is to it. We are an extremely healthy city - I'm not trying to be crude by saying this - but if you're overweight and akward about it, you will hate it here. Everyone walks/bikes/runs, eats granola and hikes every other day of the week.

Lauren

Students are very open to different people, and different experiences. They are focused on getting the most out of college and having fun while doing it. Mostly white, wealthy, liberal students.

Erik

The one stereotype I was aware of before attending CU-Boulder was that the student body was about 90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} white, middle to upper class, rich, spoiled kids who were just there to party. Yes, there are those types of kids, but only a very SMALL amount. Every major university is going to have kids like that. But the majority of kids I met and the majority of the student body are in college to expand their opportunities in life and to learn as much as possible. I have met people from all over, even one kid from London; many kids from California, Hawaii, Texas, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Colorado of course, Florida, Ohio, and the list goes on. This school is diverse in a sense that there are many different types of people and from areas all across the world.

Matt

As I said before, CU students are diverse although diversity is not a major strong point for CU. There are many different diversity groups and clubs on campus, students never feel as though they do not belong. Our student body is very liberal and accepting of all people and backgrounds.

Parker

Since I'm an engineer, I'm kind of have no life outside of school, so as far as all the student run organizations, I'm not a good one to ask. The engineering societies are pretty well organized and seem beneficial. Overall, Boulder is a very student run campus, with the largest student managed budget in the nation. I've heard the leadership opportunities in student government are fantastic from friends, but I have no personal experience with them.

Andy

Boulder is not a very diverse campus. Everyone here is very wealthy and very snobby. Ugg boots, prada purses, and big sunglasses are worn to class, and most students don't interact with you. Students think they are politically aware/active, but they are fighting for causes like weed smoking and underage drinking. It is a very liberal school, which I like, but the students don't ever talk about the future.

Madison

Everyone is very open and at first it seems like people are all on campaigns for some cause...if you visit you will see a lot of people trying to get you to vote like this or help with their charity etc. but once you actually meet people they are really normal. An average CO student is earthy and open minded, not too "into" school work but inspired by their interests to get involved in their fields.

Phil

The student body seems to be split between those who care, and want to make change, those who wanna party all the time, and those who are too stoned to know what's going on.

Amy

I've heard a lot about different student groups on campus. They've always got posters taped to bus stops and stop signs and written in chalk on the sidewalks about events and meetings. Most students you'll find are really friendly and willing to help.

Andy

The student body is a fun loving group of scholars. Although CU has made efforts to bring in more diversity the majority of the students are white, middle class kids in their twenties. Everyone finds their niche on this huge campus; opportunities are endless, from leadership to Frisbee golf.
