What are the academics like at your school?

Amy

The classes are small and personal (except the science department has much larger, stereotypical lecture rooms) and the teachers from past years still remember my name. They always have time to meet with you for any reason. Its weird because sometimes you forget that everyone here is at least somewhat intelligent and you'll be at a party and discover the girls across the beerpong table were their school's valedictorians. I have gone to coffee with a professor just to talk....unfortunately DU didn't resign his (Jim Perkinson's) contract because he was "too far out there" for DU...my least favorite decision this school has made.

Like I stated before, small class sizes are so beneficial to your education. At first, I was scared that coming to college and being in a small class would be overwhelming and intimidating. I thought I would not be as smart as other students, or I would be singled out by professors and put on the spot. This is not at all the case. In small classes, you are able to have the one-on-one attention from the professor which allows you to ask questions and get individual help. Also, small class sizes are perfect for discussions and group work, which have proven to me to be the most effective type of learning. There are resources and activities around campus to help you succeed and have fun during your time at DU and after.
