I love the variety in our student groups--it really adds flavor to UGA nad there's something for everybody, no matter how weird. You can only feel out of place if you refuse to get involved. There is infrequent interaction b/w different types f students, but I'm a business major with few business friends (but a lot of friends), so that's nice. Most kids are from Atlanta, which is annoying. Most kids are rich and totally unaware and desensitized to the poverty that surrounds them. Most students are not politically aware/active, although they aren't closed off to inspiration, either. Greek students seem to be republican because that's what their parents are.

UGA has a pretty diverse selection of students. There are people from all different backgrounds. There is a very strong southern culture around campus.

While the school is predominately white/Southern/middle class, I've come to know people from probably every different background possible. UGA is very welcoming to minorities or whatever, and I honestly think the only student who would feel out of place is the one who didn't make an effort to get to know other people. Most students wear jeans & t-shirts to class, but you do have the occasional girl who dresses up. (WHY?) Students are all thrown together in the dining halls, so I can't even tell you who actually sits with whom. It's basically who you know, or if you have enough courage to join somebody you don't know. Most UGA students are from the South, especially Georgia.

LGBT are not accepted on campus, generally. This is because of the strong Christian morals/associations. Most people are Republicans, and are proud to be from Georgia. UGA is comprised of either Atlanta-metro students, or Hicksville, GA towns. The kind of student that would feel out of place would be one that is anti-social, doesn't enjoy drinking, doesn't have as much money, and is not in a sorority. Students wear the mainstream look (stupid): Nike shorts, white tee shirt, and flip flops. In the winter, it is the same outfit but instead of flip flops add Ugg boots and leggings or Sperrys and leggings. Different types of students do not interact. The tables in the dining halls are all sorority girls and frat guys. All blond and rich and preppy. They don't have a care in the world and are probably talking about how drunk they will be downtown tonight. Or about someone's recent arrest. Most UGA students are from Atlanta, though there are some from Florida and North Carolina (those that weren't smart enough to get into UNC- seriously!). There are all different types of financial backgrounds, but one can't tell because HOPE essentially pays for education. Students are not politically active. It is rare. They are normally Conservative, but Young Democrats is on the rise. No, student's don't discuss future paydays.

I do not think any one would feel out of place at UGA because it is so diverse. Kids mostly wear t-shirts and jeans or shorts to class. People also dress up which is fun to do once in a while. flip-flops and sneakers are the most common shoes.

Our campus is fairly diverse. I know of some racial issues that have occured but for the most part I feel like our campus is very accepting of all walks of life. I personally can't say who might feel out of place on campus. I have found that most everyone can find a place they fit in within the campus community. Students wear a wide variety of things to class. People show up in everything from heels and dresses to sweats and tennis shoes, or even military uniforms for that matter. It's all about what the individual is comfortable in. As a general rule, I feel like different types of students do interact. UGA students are from all over the world. It's safe to say the majority of students are from Georgia since it is a state school. I feel like the middle and upper middle class are most prevalent, however there are people from all walks of life on campus. Students are politically aware and active. Since we are located in the south and the Bible Belt, I feel like the majority of students favor the right; however, I know plenty of students who are more moderate or left wing. I'm sure students talk about how much they'll earn one day. I know I have before.

Everyone at UGA is different and distinct. There is a large greek life influence.

Every student can probably find their niche on campus, but because it is so large, I would assume that quiet, reserved students may have trouble finding a group of friends. Students wear anything and everything to class - the idea of dressing up to class is a rumor. We wear jeans, sweatshirts, fleeces, tennis shoes, flip flops, t-shirts, athletic shorts, etc. Some people dress up, but definitely only on days they work, have presentations/interviews. Four tables of students in the dining hall - Greeks, roommates/hallmates, blacks, athletes. Most students are from Georgia and it feels like most of them are from Marietta, Alpharetta, or Roswell (Atlanta suburbs). It is rare to find someone who is not from the south. Virginia, NC, SC, LA, Alabama, and Tennessee also bring lots of students. Most people come from pretty comfortable financial situations, but HOPE really helps that because in-state students who receive that scholarship hardly pay anything for tuition and get $150 for textbooks, too. The out-of-state students are pretty well-off because they're paying out the wazoo for school. Students are politically aware and active - but this could be perception because there are many vocal political groups on campus. I think fairly split - young people are often Democrats, but because we are in the South, there are lots of Republicans.
