It depends what classes you are in. Science classes tend to be kids who are genuinely interested and good students (unless its a science class specified for non-science majors). English classes are kept small which is nice, usually get a good mix of students in them, ranging from good to bad. Be careful with language classes, a lot of people take lower levels who speak it fluently, making the class more difficult for those who are actually learning the language.

Nathalie

My classmates are social and friendly as opposed to social but manipulative.

Alexandra

They are either rich, smart, or athletic and many are from New York or New Jersey.

Anisha

Some are the type that you know paid to get into this school and there are others that are clearly the academic type that have worked hard throughout their life to get where they are today.

Sabrina

Stuck up. I'm sorry to say it but the majority of classmates I've encountered are just this way.

Chelsea

The students here share a passion for learning and experiencing, but what each one learns and experiences is different from the next, creating a passionate, diverse population.

jose

liberal, diverse, career oriented.

Alex

miami's campus is super diverse. there are groups dedicated to every ethnic group and cause. its really great. students were to class everything from pajamas to business suits. miami students are about 40{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} from florida and the rest out of state, mostly new-england, new york area, but you meet people from everywhere. politically, i'd say most are liberal and fairly active, especially about the environment. but there is also a vocal conservative group as well.

Kalea

My classmates are extremely friendly. There is a lot of diversity and many mixed ethinicities at my school, and I believe that makes it easier for people to open up and get to know other people who are different than themselves. My classmates are always willing to help out with notes or homework that I miss or don't understand.

Yvette

My classmates are intelligent, career-focused individuals thats mostly come from wealthy families and are looking towards medical or law school.

Caroline

The people who go to the University of Miami are very different culturally, but besides a few exceptions, the students are socially the same: they have a never-ending desire to escape reality with alcohol and clubbing and do not even understand what it is like to want to learn for the sake of learning something, because for them, if you can pass a class with a B, your life is made.

Marie

Most of my classmates are driven individuals that are willing to work with others in order to get a good grade: I guess the philosophy around here is that we can all do well.

Julie

Most students are ethnically diverse and open to new experiences.

jacqueline

My classmates are smart, well rounded, individuals, who make me a better person at school.

Julie

There is a large variety of students that attend the school, however a large portion of them are rich New York Jews, that can be a bit clichy. There are plenty of other really nice people though you just have to be sure to find them.

Sophia

They are from many different locations in the world.

Sam

The student body is extremely diverse, ranging from fraternity & sorority members to book worms, musicians to south beath-veterans, and athletes to stoners.

Raul

Awesome

Larry

Everyone wants to get their work done and party hard after.

Mahwish

Enthusiastic group of students that are very involved with both social groups and academics.

Andy

it's a huge mix. a lot of ppl from miami and the northeast. all races, but majority is white. a lot of rich, snobby, spoiled ppl that may be hard to be around if one is not up to par with them.... everyone dresses up in their trendy clothes and/or skimpy beachwear to class and around campus

Carlos

The Miami student body is as diverse as it is beautiful. It is about 50/50, Miamians and out of towners. There's people from China, Australia, Nigeria, anb mostly every country you can think of. There's also a lot of New Yorkers and California blondes...I love it! Miami is very open to alternative groups (LGBT), and like most college campuses, it tends to lean towards the left. As for the money game...you have it all. Wealthy Jews from the North, the affluent Westerners, the old South gentry, and the questionably wealthy Latinos...but most of us are middle class.

Joe

Hot! The girls here are amazing. Everyday I look around and I'm amazed at how gorgeous they are. I've never felt out of place, but I'm an upper middle class white male, so it's tough for me not to feel in the majority. The culture of Miami is very Hispanic (cuban), but at UM it's not as strong. Students usually wear shorts and T-shirts to class, but when they go out at night, especially to South Beach, they're dressed to the 9's.

monica

most students are friendly and outgoing.....sorority girls arent as accepting and amiable as others but even then theyre ok

Alison

Miami's student body is extremely diverse, so it's impossible for any student to feel out of place here. Most students come from wealthy families, but at least half of the school is on at least a partial scholarship (either merit or need-based). About half of the school is from Florida and the rest are from the other 49 states and many countries from around the world.
