When you step off campus what do you see?

in one direction you will see the vegas strip and the airport which is right next to campus essentially. that is the only slightly good view. if you turn any other way you will see beautiful mountains but you will also see a not very good part of town unfortunately. unlv itself is very pretty, especially when compared to its surroundings. a bunch of old apartments and run down neighborhoods and one story shopping centers surrounds unlv. there is not a university town surrounding the campus which is really disappointing in my opinion bc if there was, i might stay on and around campus more bc i would feel safer and at home. there are some pretty good fast food eats directly around campus but that's about it. it's disappointing.
