University of North Texas Top Questions

Describe the students at your school.

The student population at UNT is very diverse. We have all sorts of people from every different background you could imagine. UNT has students from all over the US and the world. So just because our name is the University of North Texas, it doesn’t mean that everyone here is from the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area. Our students are very friendly. I have never heard of any gangs or interracial disputes here. The students here see that everyone is different and they embrace it. Our student population is made up of different sexual orientations, economic backgrounds, and lifestyles. There is a Greek Life here, but only a small percentage of the university’s population is of Greek Affiliation. The average student dresses very casual and comfy for class. I’ve even witnessed a robe and slippers at a final exam! Basically, UNT is very simple and easy-going like its students.

UNT is very diverse and i love it. I dont think anyone feels out of place UNT is a pretty laid back campus that everyone can get comfortable with.

I think that UNT is really great about letting each group on campus express what they are about. I think that students who are really conservative would feel out of place at UNT because our school tends to be liberal. Most students wear jeans and t-shirts. I have found that a lot of students are from Houston and of course there are a lot there are from around the area, like myself.

The student body at UNT is very diverse. I think it is almost impossible to feel out of place at this school becuase of the large amounts of different groups available. We have many free speech areas on campus, so if one group has something to say, they are free to do so. A lot of times there will be groups of people standing around listening to someone talk in the middle of the day. As my time here at UNT lengthens, I notice that the school is rather politically interested. The SGA has just introduced a new Scholastic Readership Program, where we provide ample copies of the USA Today, New York Times, and The Dallas Morning News to any student that wants it. This raises awareness of everyday activities in our world. The political stances of students vary widely, but many are not afraid to voice their opinions.
