What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The most important attribute that I will take with me from my college experience is the life lesson that was taught to my 4 children with my accomplishment of a goal that I had set when I was a mere boy at age 18. It took me 18 more years but I finally graduated with a college degree and all of my children watched as their dad walked up on stage and received a diploma. This served as a two-fold lesson for them: first was to finish what you set out to do, no matter how long, or which obstacles arise to distract you from your goal. Second, when you enrolled in college you must learn how to priortize your time between what is needed to be done and what is wanted to be done. My dad told me that this is business before pleasure. My hope is that my children have now been witness to and apply this principle in their lives.

I have not only gained eduacational experience, but also personal with the start of attending college. I now exactly where I'm headed and I look forward to my future. I know that I can acheive my goals with time and effort. I know who I am as a person, and even though I learned a lot about myself throughout High School, I grew up more then I ever thought I would in my first year of college. I know my future rest in my hands, and my hands only, and I have gained the confidence in myself through college to know that dreams are acheivable.

If I were to go back in time I would talk to my self and I would have gone to school all the time would do my work be the best student I can be get good grads and know that going to college is the best thing to do and you would be proud of your self and with a college degree you can get good jobs and be proud of your self. college life is cool but then its really hard just study do your work just tell your self you can do it and just do what you got to do and you will see your self as a yong alutd you will see and be proud cause most kids dont have a chance and you do so do it and dont play around.!

I would tell myself not to be afraid of the military because it will give you great opportunities in school, travel and over all life experiences.

As a high school senior I was very confused on where my life was going. I know I wanted to own my own business one day but I wasn't sure how I could get there and was so afraid to ask questions. This is a major regret of mine because I would have had so many more options and it would have probably led to me going to school for 4 years straight instead of taking a break. Thus, I would have seeked financial and administration counselors to help me find my way. I was accepted to a few different schools and my first choice was Johnson and Wales in Florida. Living in New York at the time, my mother was not too pleased and insisted I went to Utica College, which was my 2nd choice because it was closer to home. I did end up attending Utica College for Child Psychology, a major I really did not want to take part in. So I would also tell myself to be brave and tell my mother what my dream was and tell her she could not come between me and my goal of being a successful entrepreneur .

Just go to college there are millions of people willing to help you and don't be overwhelmed with the challenges.

Focus on school as more then just a chore but something you have to do. School is more important then the friends you will make or the fun you will have on campus, those things fade. An education is priceless and more then needed in today's difficult economic evironment. Also remember to follow your passion, after all, if you hate what you are studying you will hate what you end up doing.
