Tell us about the food and dining options.

As a first year, you receive unlimited dining hall swipes. After first year you have to purchase a limited plan. In my own personal experience, I would recommend the 50 swipes as I purchased the 100 semester and it was absolutely overwhelming to have that many swipes. As for the dining halls, I prefer O-hill for breakfast and dinner while I prefer Newcomb for lunch. The Pav is also great for getting food and using swipes after 5pm, as they have sushi, Chik-Fil-A and other varieties of food. Runk Dining Hall is also pretty good and close to those in Hereford or Gooch dorms and for those who may live a little off grounds.

Not going to lie, the dining hall food is, well, cafeteria food. I do like O'Hill's (Observatory Hill Dining Hall) breakfast, baked tilapia, and fish and fries though. Also N2GO and Newcomb are solid choices, and if Runk wasn't so far, it would probably be the best of the 3 since its food is healthier and more organic. However, there are enough other options to avoid dining hall food altogether. There are many cafes, sandwich places, and such. We even have Chick-fil-A! (That means nothing to Northerners...) We have Starbucks, burrito/quesadilla places, pizza, sushi, smoothies, subs, etc. The cafes, especially McLeod and Alderman, are REALLY good. Also, the restaurants on the Corner and in the city of Charlottesville itself are fantastic.
