What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Erica

I would tell this young lady, who is completely overwhelmed with the insurmountable task of getting into and paying for college, that it is simply not as difficult as it seems. I would tell her that there are abundant resources available to help her through the processes and that it will be difficult, but will only get more complicated the longer she waits. Though no one in her family has been to college, I would tell her that she is absolutely able to do it, and that the uncertainty she feels about the road ahead will be replaced by a new found sense of accomplishment and self-confidence with every step. I would try to explain to her how pushed to the limit she will feel, but that this stretching will cause her to see the world and understand things in a way that she could only imagine. I would let her know that it will be the hardest thing she has ever done, and most rewarding. I truly wish I could go back and have that conversation.
