Peacetalk is a growing organization on campus that is really a positive change from the usual activist organizations. It combines fundraising and awareness efforts with self-education.

It's a lonnggg winter but the spring and fall and really the snow in the winter are all beautful- tons to do outside in the surrounding areas. The outing club organizes tons of cool events, you can go skiing at Jiminey Peak all the time during Winter Study, mountain day is tons of fun, WOOLF (forsh orientation) is great. Not too much in terms of stores and restaurants in Williamstown (two pretty good ones) but don't really need it when you're here - the dining halls are amazing, stop and shop is a quick ride too. Frosh housing can be a tight squeeze if you get a double in frosh quad, but missions has all singles, and upperclass housing is sweet - including the coop system.

I wouldn't suggest coming here unless you want to play sports but are too bad to play Division I or love having your nose in a book all the time. It will break the souls of lesser being and leave those who survive as miserable shells of their former selves...but you will make lots of money afterwards if you major in Econ though.

Like any place, Williams is the perfect fit for many people, a terrible fit for others, and somewhere in between for most. Its size can be frustrating, but it can also provide many opportunities to make your own experience. The only way to really know is to be there.

Kevin

Paresky, the new dining hall, has AMAZING food. I'm talking steaks and rotisserie chicken good.

Kelly

Despite all its flaws, if had to choose again...I would still choose Williams.

Laura

Williams is what you make of it. The college will give you the funding you need if you apply for it, is willing to listen to your opinion (I've had several meetings with Dining Services about the food options, and they were great. They are really on top of things and want the students to by happy), and tries to make everything available to you. It's up to you to ask a teacher to dinner, or write an application for funding, or schedule a meeting with Dining Services, or go to a lecture. Also, the food is great!! And we're really working on making the campus as sustainable as possible, which is awesome.

Emma

The dining hall food is decent, and most days is vegetarian friendly, though it can get boring and repetetive.

Gene

it's in a small, isolated town. I like that, but not everyone does. there's always plenty happening on campus, but if you have specific demands for entertainment, etc, they may be hard to meet.

Hannah

to go to williams you have to be prepared to make huge sacrifices. i wasn't. i had to leave but i will soon return. Williams College Peace Talk Africa

I wish I had more time to hang out with friends and spent less time on work. But that is my own fault. The culture here is to pack your schedule so full that you barely have any free time. I did it to myself.

Peacetalk:Africa is a cool new club and we discuss African history and current political and social events, and raise money and awareness.

Williams is a great place to be once you get comfortable with it. Once people find their niche it's all gravy.

Lots of student groups are doing great things that extend beyond the Environment, like the Women's Center, BSU, QSU/ERA, Peacetalk, RASAN, etc.

Paul

The dorms are pretty sweet, it's pretty easy to get a single. The facilities in general are really good and they're in the processing of building a couple of new academic buildings and a new library which should be done by fall 08 and fall 09 respectively.
