I believe that the academics are challenging without being completely ridiculous. If you study well you will do well it's a given.
I have just been accepted into Youngstown State University's Dental Hygiene program which is a competitive program to get into. There are only 24 seats for this department, which has it's pro's and con's of course but we get a lot of attention from our professors which is perfect for this field of study.
The academics are definitely what you make out of it. Your professors will know your name if you let them learn it. Class sizes range from 30-50 people usually so unless you skip most of the classes your professor will take initative to get to know you. They also understand that a lot students have to work during their time in college and are good about modifying the syllabus if there is a major conflict with the students schedule. A student is definitely not a number at YSU. I am a maketing major and nonprofit leadership minor and have been granted so many opportunities in the community because of my involvement with YSU.
