This award is for U.S. and international undergraduate students who are studying a computer-related field at a North American university. Selections are primarily based on the quality of research projects. Unless a student has completed significant research in the computing field, they are not eligible for this award and should not seek nomination.

The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation is available to graduate students majoring in physical sciences at select partner universities of the foundation.
