Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on available funding. Typically, about 20 applicants are awarded scholarships through this program each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be of Latino descent.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Must be majoring in business.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must be a college junior or senior to apply for this undergraduate award.
  7. Must attend a HACU partner university in one of the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas, or Wisconsin.
  8. Must be enrolled as a full-time student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This undergraduate award is for U.S. junior or senior college stduents of Latino descent studying business. Applicants must attend a HACU partner university in one of the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas, or Wisconsin.

Additional Information: The Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund was established in 1997 to fulfill the mission of inspiring the best and brightest Latino students to graduate and lead through scholarships, internships and leadership training. In 2018, the Adelante Fund merged with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities to further advance the goal of financing the higher educational needs of deserving Hispanic students. This award is need-based, and as such applicants will be required to show proof of eligibility for state and/or federal financial assistance.

Award Amount: $3,000 anually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available online at the HACU website, by going to the 'Student Resources' tab and clicking on the 'Scholarships' link. In addition to the online application form, the applicant must submit an official copy of his/her most recent college transcripts; a copy of his/her most recent financial award letter including his/her eligibility for federal or state-funded financial aid and a description of such aid including amounts and sources; a copy of his/her financial award letter from the previous academic year; proof of enrollment; two reference letters from well-known non-family members describing the student's leadership potential in under 250 words; responses to the student survey on a separate sheet of paper; and a copy of the student's resume. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
