Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of eligible students and available funding.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be an incoming transfer student. Please note: Current UNF students are not eligible.
  4. Must have applied for admission to the University of North Florida to begin enrollment in the fall term. This award is not available to students beginning in the spring term.
  5. Must be a Florida resident.
  6. Must be classified as a minority student.

Description: This scholarship is available for Florida students who are planning to transfer to the University of North Florida and are members of a minority group. Awarding is based on financial need and/or merit and other select criteria.

Application requirements for the UNF Minority Community College Transfer Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • FAFSA by 03/01/2016
Additional Information: The Minority Community College Transfer Scholarship is a competitive program available for qualified minority college transfer students on the basis of financial need and/or merit and other select criteria. Scholarship application decisions will be released no later than mid-July and scholarships are awarded beginning in the fall term of each year.

Award Amount: $1,600 annually, disbursed in two equal installments for fall and spring semesters. The scholarship can be renewed after the first year, but students must submit a new application to be considered for renewal. Students may receive funding for a maximum of three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,600.

Application information is available from the University of North Florida (UNF) website. The student must submit a scholarship application, which is available through his/her UNF myWings account. In order to submit a scholarship application, the student must have a completed admissions application on file. If the student has just submitted his/her admissions application, he/she will normally be able to submit a scholarship application on the following business day, but it might take up to three business days for his/her account to be created. A step-by-step tutorial for submitting the scholarship application is available online. Because funds are limited, students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA by March 15 for priority consideration.
