Auburn University Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Meredith

partially

Carly

Yes, I think that Auburn is a large university still with a small town feel.

Allison

Somewhat, yes, but greek students aren't even close to being in the majority.

Katherine

No

Ali

No, I don't think the agriculture schools take up that much of the university, or enough to make it a "farm school."

Julia

No, Auburn has such a diversity of people.

Sarah

depends on the person but i think for the most part Alabama is a little crazier

Kris

nope

Brooke

Sometimes

Alli

Yes and no, many greeks are intelligent and the stereotypes of the way people act is not ever true, you can't generalize a whole group and believe every one is like that. I can truly say that in my sorority we have a great group of girls that are so diverse, and being here for a couple years now, I know there are a variety of people in all groups. However, we are in the south and many men have the southern hospitality charm. Auburn is traditional and the cars I see around and the people I meet seem to be upper-middle class and seem that their parents are well off.

Brooke

somewhat

Mary

pretty much, yes.

Alex

somewhat. there is some diversity but i would say as a whole not very much

Katherine

NA

Sara

It is a very fun school and is full of many wonderful people, but I'd say that there is a huge percentage of the student body who are very smart. I also know for a fact that not everyone is accepted to Auburn.

Addison

yes.

Some are true but to a certain level (i.e. trailer park kids; yes we have kids that live in trailers but they are not "trailer trash," trailers are just a normal, common place to live just like an apt.

Molly

Dylan

in some ways

Allison

i dont know.

Brook

yes

Meg

No not really.

Rachael

No, not at all.

Katherine

Somewhat, but they only make up about 30{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of Auburn

Carey

somewhat

Alyssa

yes, except "treehuggers"

Rory

No

Ashlyn

I believe these stereotypes are all accurate.

Kristy

For the most part yeah. There is diversity, and people from every background imaginable. However, the majority of students fits this profile.

Torry

To a certain extent, yes.

Elizabeth

Mostly, no. If you're looking for a booming college town (entertainment-wise) Auburn isn't it. Definitely not. But the town is nice and (most of the time) peaceful. People aren't *really* that dumb, but you meet a few. And those few will REALLY make you wonder about the admissions policies.

Tressa

For those outside of Alabama, no, not at all. We are as civilized as anyone else, maybe more. But in some instances, the Greek sterotype is true.

Natalie

Not everyone is a frat boy or sorority girl. There is a pretty big variety of people on campus, you just have to be active in the university life so you can meet them. A lot of people do wear either Uggs, short skirts or Northface jackets. Most do not wear them all in combination, but some do.

Kenneth

As I said before, the stereotypes are only partly true.

Charlie

Sure, we do have the best agriculture school in the nation. Yes, we have put many astronauts in space, but we are a school that is great in all academics. We rank as one of the best schools in the nations for getting quality education for money. As for football, we do have a large amount of school spirit in the sport; but we exhibit that same spirit in all of our sports. It is the same spirit that has cheered us on to countless national championships.

Cameron

there is most likely about 20{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} more sourthern students there compared to other schools but by no means is it redneck. id say its just as equally ballanced as any other school

Elizabeth

Mostly, yes.

Morgan

We definitely live and breathe football. There are many reasons why Auburn is the best university down south and football is one of them. We take pride in our football program and do not take a loss lightly. The Iron Bowl (when we play University of Alabama) is the biggest attraction in our state and you have to be here to experience the excitement and thrill of every play during that game. Our school, as far as stuck up people go, has the normal distribution of social classes. Yes, there are definitely people that think they are better than others but I would think it is like this at every university across the country.

Nicole

Yes

Meredith

For the most part, the stereotypes are accurate. One of the most exciting aspects of being a student at Auburn is attending the football games. They provide an intense environment for students to express team and school spirit. Another typical stereotype is that you will not get the most fulfilling experience out of being a college student unless you are in a sorority or fraternity. Speaking from experience, this is definitely not true. I am not in a sorority but still feel very connected with the student body. There are so many diverse groups and clubs to become involved in, so if being in a sorority doesn't meet your individual wants or needs there is most definitely something that will.
