great christian environment

Morgan

It is a small Baptist school. It is very conservative unlike my first choice.

Jody

This a fantastic place with really outstanding people who care about students as individuals. I can't imagine being anywhere else.

Alyssa

Baylor's uniqueness comes from its Baptist background. Most students come from a Christian background and have similar moral values. Its also unique because of its student population. Its large enough to offer diversity and for everyone not to know everyone else's business but still small enough to have good class sizes and for students to feel like they are getting the individual attention they deserve.

Jeanna

The professors care.

john

The family feel of the campus , the extensive tradition, and open and loving people.

Mallory

It has a great atmosphere. The people here are extremely friendly and usually really want to get to know you. It is the perfect size because I recognize people as I walk across campus, but I don't feel like I know everybody. There is a good amount of diversity within the students.

Erica

It is very Baptist. There is a lot of emphasis on godwill towards men and such. It is very diverse in the face there is a varied amount of haves and have nots, those who have to work hard to ensure a decent future for themselves and those who are there looking for the prospective spouses or there to have an experience and blow all of daddy's money. All in all everything really...set...here. It's not as open and willing to change and as an institution of learning and growing should be.

marcus

it offers neuroscience as an undergraduate

Thomas

The friendly environment and how green it is! It amazes me how awesome the people here are!!! :D

Megan

Research-oriented school. Largest Baptist school but still considered liberal.

Diane

Baylor University is rooted in tradition and Christian values and morals. Degrees from Baylor are very prestigious.

Morgan

A look at the Baylor Rising Artist Network

Louisa

I really like that Baylor incorporates Christian teaching with academics. Some people don't appreciate the Christian influence the school has, but I think it really helps me to stay centered spiritually and focused on my school work. I wouldnt recomend it to someone with no religious values, I think that anyone who calls his or herself a Christian would really benifit from it.

Ryan

The political, religious and worldly out look which is emphasized by so many professors.

Kashena

Its a renowned university

Mark

It is just right size to meet tons of new frends but still get a tight community feel. Teachers and students are always anxious to help eachother in anyway they can whether it be academically or outside of the campus. Also, most of the kids that come to Baylor Univerisity are not looking to go crazy but to help their situation and others in life.

Tregg

We have two live North American Black Bears here on campus that are actively taken care of and trained by students.

Brittany

I would say that Baylor feels more like a family than a school. I believe that this is one of Baylor's greatest characteristics.

Braden

Baylor University is a mystic dichotomy, a foil unto itself. Of all the schools I examined, none were as unique as Baylor. Its a place where devotion to academic excellence is paramount even while the rich social life makes campus forever festive, where the cutting edge is the target but balanced by a commitment to volunteering and community service, a place where the school's rich legacy is guarded as fervently as its future is fought to improve. It was this mesmerizing atmosphere of contradictions in perfect balance that won both my heart and my enrollment.

Devon

Small class sizes are a plus.

Daniella

The campus is not only beautiful but the environment, staff and other students make of Baylor like a second family.

Morgan

One of the things that is toughest about Baylor is finding the place you belong. What I found is that a lot of students hated Baylor their first semester, but loved it their second after they found their group. A lot of the students come to college together, so it can be hard to find your group, but don't despair, you'll find it... or you can transfer. But Baylor is a great place to go to college. You can really get the college experience. Probably one of the worst things is that it's pretty expensive, but they are pretty generous with financial aid.

Sandy

If you can get past all the paperwork and rules and really try to have a good time, then Baylor will be awesome.

Rory

There is a lot of drug use (adderol) because you have to be able to study for hours upon end to study for your tests.

Maggie

I love Baylor! So, so much. It's as expensive as all get-out but it's definitely the right choice for me, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Jake

All in all, Baylor's a great school. It's founded on Christian values, yet large enough and varied enough to allow you to escape those values, if you wish.

Ricky

This place is great!

AJB

I think that Baylor is a great academic institution. I love going to class, i love interacting with my educated classmates. I love the Texas weather and the people. Sometimes i wish that there werent rules for what someone can and cannot do in their own home... rules for what time you have to be home.... jkust rules that are worse than the ones your parents gace you when you were 12. BAylor wants their students to be sheltered for the real world... but reality is that a sickening amount of students die or kill themselves each year, studetns get robbed, car jacked, shot at, raped... and whatever else happen.... just like it happens anywhere else in the world. Your not any safer because you go to the conservative southern baptist school, if anything, you are more at risk because they fail to let their students have enough freedom to learn about what life is... and unfortuantely, most never do, and they are the ones targeted and the ones who usually dont know what danger is.

Amy

i have loved every moment at baylor, it was well worth every penny and has given me countless college memories and wonderful friends to cherish.

Anna

Baylor has its good things for sure, but it is not the epitome of life. I have enjoyed it and will remember it, but I think more than anything it has prepared me for life. I feel ready to interact with whoever, whenever.

Brittany

Seroiusly consider how you want your life to be at Baylor. If you are okay being bored out of your mind in a lame city not having the typical college experience, then Baylor is for you. Like lots of my friends say, if you loved high school, you will hate Baylor, but if you hated high school, you will love Baylor. Stay on campus when you visit! ASK QUESTIONS FROM STUDENTS! Those student guides will feed you nothing but lies, so watch your back! Look around and consider all options. Just because your parents loved Baylor 30 years ago does NOT mean you will.

Steve

This school is expensive, that's for sure. But the small environment with the big school options make this a great place to go to college if you can afford it/get scholarships for it. There are a few people who had their lives paid for them and have no idea how to take care of themselves, which is kinda sad/kinda funny. But most folks are pretty level-headed, and I think you'd get that anywhere you go to some degree. I have been pretty happy here. Look at your options, look at the campus, and good luck.

Andy

Baylor is plaintively terrible. Avoid it at all costs.

Danielle

Things I wish I'd known before coming to Baylor: Check bubooks.com for professor ratings before choosing classes. Buy your books on half.com a month before classes start if you want to save about $200. Invest in a security system if you're living off campus. Take English Comp online or at a community college. Use Craigslist. Apply for as much financial aid as you can. Don't go to Cameron Park at night!

The most important social move when coming to Baylor, especially when you don't know many people, is getting involved early and often. Your first semester here will set the tone for your social life. Go to meetings for all kinds of different groups and find which ones suit you and your agenda well. Academic wise, it is tough to make the transition from high school classes to college classes. If you come from a public high school, there is an especially huge difference. So, the best thing to do is to go to your professors and ask them about how they feel you can best study or otherwise prepare for their tests. Each professor is different, so getting a feel for what each professor feels to be important about that specific class is a must.

Ali

Baylor has helped me become a better person overall. I have my stuff together so much more than any of my friend from high school who are at other colleges. I have made better friends than I could have ever hoped for and I have been apart of some amazing things here. We have float, Sing, philanthropy, and 1,000 other things but its because its fun. My friend at colleges who dont have this are jealous. It is a bonding experince and you accomplish things you would never do otherwise. If I had to chose all over again I would def. pick Baylor. It has made my college years the most amazing experience of my life, and I believe my life will be better later on because of what I am taking away from here.

Andrea

Baylor's awesome. It'll change you if you let it.

Lindsay

Sic 'em!

Jeff

Overall I would say that where every you may go enjoy the college life, it is suppose to be best years of your life. I have enjoyed my three years here at Baylor and look forward to another year. My experience has not been a bad one at all. I would not change a thing that I have done at Baylor. I do not second guess if I picked the right college. I beleive that I attended the right college for me. Of course not every college is the right one for some people. But I believe that Baylor offers (try to) the best college experience possible.

Chris

Sing! This is probably Baylor's biggest tradition that no other school can touch. The music, the passion, the drama. Sing! brings together people from all over the Baylor community and entertains like no other. I would encourage any freshman to do Sing Alliance, or join their fraternities act.

Shawn

Too much to write.

Tim

Baylor has a place for everyone but you just might have to look for it.

stephanie

BAYLOR IS SOOOO MUCH FUN. it is the perfect balance of parties and academics. church and studying. drinking and simply having random fun times. everyone is here to learn and get an amazing degree but we have fun and let loose at the same time. people are sane..not too crazy but definitely not too boring. work hard. party hard. hot girls. hot boys. good churches. good concerts. boring city..but BAYLOR makes up for it. its not called a baylor bubble for nothing.

Katie

I tend to find that as a whole Baylor's student body is unconcerned with any type of environmental progress. While this is very upsetting, there are several student/faculty organizations that are actively pursuing more environmentally friendly practices on campus. It greatly annoys me that all of the cleaning staff is of Hispanic decent, and NONE of them speak English. The cost of attending Baylor is not cheap, but there are so many scholarships available to help with tuition. Also, I would highly recommend bringing in as much AP/IB credit so that you don't have to take as many basic freshman classes, you will free up a lot of time in your schedule, and it is good to know that once you have been accepted you can only transfer 15 credits from another school into Baylor for your degree (excluding all high school credit). When planning which classes to take over the next four years, the credit I earned in high school has been so helpful.

Casey

baylor is expensive. you will have a good education if you can afford it. and if you can put up with the religious stuff for the first 2 years you'll be fine. the campus is beautiful and you make good friends. there are always complaints about schools. i've enjoyed my time at baylor, but that's because i made it so.

Paige

SIC EM Bears After Disney World Baylor is the greatest place on earth BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT!! Baylor has a beautiful campus!

Charlie

Hard work pays off. If you go to any university this is going to be obvious, but when your professors know you by name and ask you why you weren't in class on Friday it can be a bit weird. We do have an attendence policy at Baylor, but if you miss class it is really only your loss. Join groups! If you want a sorority or fraternity, go ahead. If not we have everything from band and orchestra to competitiave and club sports teams. Not that good at sports? Awesome, come and make a fool out of yourself as a group in intermurals, trust me you will have a blast. Want an academic group? We have BIC and Honors classes, you can find a bunch of friends there. One last thing, get the cheapest meal plan you can, you won't use them anyway. After freshman year drop the meal plan and just pay for meals out of Dining Dollars or Bear Bucks, it's cheaper if you do the math.

Allie

Visiting hours for the opposite gender in the dorms are ridiculous. All boys must leave by 10pm on week nights and midnight on weekends. Parking is very difficult- it's almost impossible to find a good spot.
