Bethel University-Saint Paul Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Hanne

There is not a huge variety of opinions or personalities in the student body.

Jose

There is no worst thing i think this school has helped me alot and I have not seen anything that i didn't like.

Christopher

The worst thing I can say about this school is that it sometimes makes you feel insulated from the "real world," and you feel like you don't know what is going on in the world outside Bethel.

Liz

There is a lot of pressure to get married. I don't like this because I feel I am too young to think about that.

David

The fact that over half the student population is from Minnesota. This leads to less diversity and means that many people go home on the weekends.

Jeremiah

It is a smaller school so it doesn't have quite as much funding as some other schools.

Matthew

Everything at Bethel is too expensive. The houseing everages 500 a month and is not worth nearly that much. Tuition is also very pricey. At the same time the dinning center is very unflexible and expensive. They make you buy too many meals that you would never eat, or too few meals with not enough flex money to spend at an overpriced food market. Financial aid is also very poor.

I don't feel like the administration always listens to what the student body says. I feel like they push aside what we say and think that we just want to complain. They also don't provide enough opportunities for students to express their opinions are certain aspects of the college that directly affects them like certain adminstrative actions, the construction (and with the construction telling us enough information like how long is two of the hallways going to be blocked), etc. But we have a new president now who I think will be good, and will make good changes.

the huge emphasis on diversity and the very liberal administration. they use the diversity angle to push their liberal agenda, and they stifle the opinions of more conservative students and faculty. they don't hire conservative faculty anymore. people become afraid to speak their own opinions openly for fear of being labeled a racist or bigot, when they are not.
