Before school, I wish I had known how to select the classes I would need even with an undeclared major. It was so hard to register for classes, not knowing what you are interested in and what you want to be in the future. The best opinion that the representitive of Sacramento State University can supply was to take general education courses that relate to some of my interests. I am a person who have to experience first before I can decide what my major really is. Registering for classes is hard but experience can make a difference.

Jason

I wish I would have taken the initiative in high school to research careers. At that time I was not mature enough to realize I had the chance to seize the oppurtunity. Although now I have taken the hard road and worked to earn money to pay for my education I appreciate my education that much more. I really wish I would of had a better idea on how the school system is structured; prerequisites and unit transfers. Most of all I wish I had a better sense of self

That you do not need to pick a major right away. Your still young, you still have time. As well apply, apply, apply for Grants, Scholarships, as often as you can, you need the money. As well make friends in your dorms your freshman year, it will help out in the future.

The thing that would have helped me the most as an incoming freshman onto this campus, would have been the difficulty level of many of the classes found at Sacramento State University. It didn?t take them long to whip me into shape, and start challenging me to pursue excellence in everything I do. For an education means nothing without the comprehension behind it, to take it even further. Although knowing the Union makes a nice spot to nap couldn't have hurt either.

Lacey

I wish I would have known exactly what I wanted to do when I first started. I now know what I want to do and I am happy with the program and the faculty helping me get my degree.

Julia

Autumn

Receiving two associates degrees prior to transferring to a university, I now realize pursuing my degrees is not only a process of developing skills and knowledge but developing the character I aspire to be. I was filled with uncertainty while choosing a major to devote myself, but after taking the next leap towards my education I know my feelings of reluctance were normal. Perseverance of pushing through uncertainty helped me build strength and a sense of accomplishment. I wish I would have known that apprehension of a new life and new campus is only the threshold of a fresh opportunity.

The traffic in this city is not good!

kala

That it offers less class in my major.

I had wish that i had kown more about finding and applying for scholoarships. My last semester I just took out a loan that barely covered my tuition fees. The last semseter I had to struggle financailly along with my classes. So my advice is apply for scholarships early and often. There is some work into finding scholarships but if you can't do this little work then how can you expect to excel in your career when you gradaute. It is much better to graduate debt free than debt ridden.

Brittney

I wish I had known more about the free and discounted student services. I recently learned about many things that the school provides us. Some examples are: a free message every semester; free visits to our health center; discounts at many stores and restaurants and many more. As a college student I have to budget my money more than I ever have in my life and every penny saved helps out.

Sonia

I wish I had known the campus a bit better. I visited the school a few times before attending but I did not know it by heart and I got lost on the first day. But I was able to learn quickly where everything is and there was students willing to help along the way.

Rebecca

I wish I had known more about campus life, such as how to sign up for clubs and how to network myself. I also wish I had known not to stress out over every little thing, because stress just makes everything harder. I wish I had known that it is easier to plan your days so that all your classes are close together rather than all over the place during the day.

Nicholas

I wish I had known the size of the school in population. Also how steep the price of textbooks and parking would be. Also how they try to screw you on paying your tuition. One little piece of advice is to take care of your holds immediately if you are going to attend Sac State.

hayley

Before coming to my school I wish i had known the extent to how college would differ from school. Knowing the amount of reading I would have to do or the hours I would be spending studying would have helped me significantly. My study habbits in highschool did not work in college. I had to begin studying at least 2 or 3 weeks in advance for mid terms and finals. Unfortunately, I had to learn that through trial and error. Had I known how much exams weigh into our grade I would have prepared self alot better.

Kierra

I wish I had known that the school had such strong student organizations that are very active. There is always something to do. Also I wish I had known that the school was so big becasue I would have gotten a bike.

Arika

I wish I could have known student to teacher ratios. I would much rather have had a class room that has less than fourty people to have that one on one relationship with the Professor. When the Professor notices that you are coming to class everyday and trying hard, it may give them the impression that you care about their class, and may help you with any questions you may have. It could also be the differnece between a B- or and A.

Collins

I had no clue that I had to make my own schedule when I was in orientation. The teacher student ration is preety even due to the fact that some classes are small and some are huge so it fits everyone. The other thing that i wish i knew before i attended this school is how to register for on campus jobs, or how to get a hold of the scholarships that it offers to students.

Siena

I wish I would have known what I wanted to study. Knowing what you want to major in really helps when picking the college you would like to attend.

Nicole

Don't be afraid to get out there and make new friends, having a social network at school helps you not only enjoy your time there but also succeed in courses better by having the support of other students who understand the demands of college life.

Lauren

Well a little more about financial aid, for I did not get the full aid that i had hoped for and I wish that there was a way to get as muh as I can. Other than that I was well infromed about the school and its surroundings. I love the area and I could not have choosen a better school.

Nicolette

I wish I knew about the budget cuts California would endure! The budget cuts are the only real problem currently at Sac State.

Rebekah

How much time and money I would have saved if I started college out at CSU Sacramento and a english major.

Leah

I wish I had know what I wanted to major in. I took a bunch of different classes in order to find what I was passionate about. It would have been nice if high school could have shown me some of the many options that I would have in college so that I could be prepared. I don't feel as if I wasted time on classes that I didn't need. The philospohy, environmental science, and astronomy classes were interesting and now I will always have a little bit of knowledge about these subjects.

Monica

I wish that I would have known how different things would turn out to be from wehn I applied to where things will be when I graduate. I wish that I would have known that the class sizes would increase, and that the staff would decrease, and that the fees would increase without warning.

dana

Jennifer

Amber

If ther was more financial aid available. Since all aid is based on parents earnings, it is difficult to be awarded any money even though mny parents did not pay for my school. i had to take out loans and work part-time for the entirety of my school career. If awards were based on students earnings it would work better and provide students the opportunity to work less and focus on school more.

Sang

Perhaps my major, because before I attended Sac State, I had no clue on my major. I was undecided. This sort of postponed my graduation date. If I had knew what I wanted to do with my career life, I wouldn't take so much useless classes. I would have gone straight to the road where I'm supposed to and think ahead of myself to start early with my career goals. It would of helped so much more.
