I would have to tell myself not to stress over college to much. College is a big deal but, stressing over it will only make the transition worse. Study hard, it will pay off in the end. Pay attention in class and keep my chin up. Don't listen to what others have to tell you it will only scare you off. Try your best and always believe in yourself.
The costs. It is hard to come up with the money to pay for school while playing a sport and going to school full-time.
Dickinson State University is a small college in Western North Dakota, with very friendly and helpful faculty and students.
Before coming to college, I wish I had known more of what campus activities are available. The school did a nice job of telling me what was available, but not how to get in touch with the person in charge of running the groups. If I had been able to contact someone, I would have gotten more involved.
Our school is a great school for their education program. Students come from all around to get their teaching degrees in Dickinson, North Dakota. The whole town supports the college and the activities. The opportunities are endless.
There is alot of support for students that don't fit the average profile. This is a very good thing because in todays world you need an education and there are alot of people out there, like myself, that are not at a point in there lives where school can be their primary focus. The support system really helps and it's nice to know that you don't have to do it alone.
The type of person that should attend this school is someone who wants a small, family like enviroment, where you know the students and the proffessor all know you by name.
A selfish meat head that will only do sports and not do the actual work to pass classes. DSU is an easy school if you just show up and care.
I'm attending school completely online. It's perfect for me, because I am expecting my first child. So, my schedule will work well for me.
The most frustrating thing about school is studing for tests. Tests are a crucial part of your grades when you are in college. If I fail a test it can impact my grade greatly and lower my GPA. This makes studying for tests very frustrating because i know i have to get good grades and failing a test is not a option. Studying for tests requires many hours of studying, which tends to lead to frustration. Though, tests are difficult studying and getting good grades will pay off when i graduate.
My classmates are strong in their belief and they care about the wellbeing of others.
What is unique about my school compared to other schools I considered is that my school has a great student service service. The SSS program is outstanding, they really care about the students that they help out and try their best to help them with their problems. I would consider this the best thing about Dickinson State University and their tutoring center. A student can get one on one time with a tutor to help them in any subject as many times a week for up to an hour long.
Homecoming at DSU is probably the best time ever. The morning air is crisp and cool for the parade where candy is thrown from the student club floats. It then goes to the Tailgate where free food and drink is shared, music blaring, laughs shared. You never feel more at home than you do during homecoming
